Hi Everybody!
I’m so glad I can finally talk to you about this! It was getting hard to talk about what we’re doing without actually saying what we were doing, so I’m really relieved that it’s finally in the open and that I can share my excitement for this.
In case you missed it, I’m of course referring to our recent announcement that we’ll be returning to Kickstarter with Divinity: Original Sin 2; our biggest and most ambitious RPG to date — one that will either sink us, or go on to be remembered as our best game ever!
We’re saving the announcement of all the features for when the Kickstarter campaign launches on August 26th, so I won’t discuss those just yet. Instead, I thought I’d talk a little bit about why we’re returning to crowdfunding, and what our hopes and aspirations are.
Divinity: Original Sin wouldn’t be the game it was without the input from our Kickstarter backers & Steam Early Access players. There were a lot of them and they pushed us forwards in directions we hadn’t anticipated when we started development. To this day, our entire team is incredibly grateful for this. Our community was a critical factor for the success of the game. Without having that same community on board, I think it’s going to be very hard for us to achieve the goals we have with Divinity: Original Sin 2, and so we’ll do our very best to convince them to back us once again. The result at the end will be so much better if they do.
I’m hopeful that our players will find Divinity: Original Sin 2 a worthy cause to back though; it really goes beyond what’s been done so far in turn-based RPGs and it’s going to be a lot of fun to play. Actually, it already is and we’ll be showing a prototype at Pax Prime where people will be able to get a taste of it.
Holy shit.
I still haven't finished the first one, that said I hope they make the male PC look less like an ape and more like a human.
how is this a leak
Waiting for that 2.0 patch for the first one to play with my friend.
Edited the title, this isn't a "leak."
I'm stoked! Divinity was an incredibly rich game. One of the best RPG's I've played! It had the feel and depth of a tabletop experience in a PC package.
Crap, I still need to play the first one!

I only wish it had a bit more structure to it. I don't mean hold my hand or anything and I quite enjoyed the very real difficulty of the game, but not knowing what anything means or what to do or how to do it gets a bit boring.
I recall playing Divine Divinity when I was a bit younger, my grandmother recommended it to me. :v: But I never finished it. Didn't even know it had become a series.
When me and my friend played last year, we got to the final boss of the first area and were either poorly built or underleveled. We completed all the quests in that area and killed all the non-respawning enemies so we were basically fucked. It was kind of a bummer.

Now it's become a full on Ultima 7 remake. It's awesome.

You posted their official blog in the OP. It was always officially addressed.

I looked, It wasn't on the front page. It was hidden, had the thread in one of my tabs but forgot to post.
Nice. While I didn't finish the first one, I'm surely looking forward to this game. Hopefully it will be at least as good as the last one.
Easily one of my favorite games of all time , how exciting.
i had no idea what divinity original was when i bought it on steam, it just looked kinda neat. finished it after like 50 hours and it's now one of my favourite games.
this game is seriously underrated because i never hear anyone talk about it yet it's so good. really excited for a sequel.
I bought Divinity going by how much people praised it. I thought I'd play it some by myself, maybe complete it quick.
My friend saw me play it, checked it out, bought it.
We cooped it through in about a week, with total gametime being 73 hours. And I can tell you we missed / skipped a LOT of stuff.
One of the best RPGs, it was extremely enjoyable and challenging from beginning to end, without any part boring us out. Can't wait for the sequel, damn!
I liked Original Sin but it felt a little much like a giant fetch quest. I kinda hope that the second is a little more interesting in regards to the plot and how side quests are involved.
I haven't gotten into the first one because I'm waiting to play the enhanced edition :(
Need to finish the first one. But me and my buddy are waiting to replay it once the 2.0 patch comes and hopefully finish it. I remember we beat one of the boss fights by bringing crates and other props with us into a boss fight room and barricading the stairs so the monsters could reach us. It was amazing and it actually worked to some degree. :v:
I wanted to get into Divinity but I didn't have friends who have it nor the cash to get it.

I remember having a blast with Dragon Commander.
The sequel should be called Divinity Unoriginal Sin
Apparently people are getting mad because one of the top tier perks is 'more gore and nudity.'
AKA Conan the Barbarian.

What's great about that is that the "adult mode" is simply a popular user-submitted suggestion, not anything that has been at all confirmed to be in the game. Still, even the idea of it (unsurprisingly) devastates some people. Not to mention that even the suggestion proposes it as an optional setting for the game.
Best news 2015.
i bought all the older divinity games in the last steam sale.
are they worth playing or should i just go straight to original sin?

I just don't understand why people are against it since Divinity Original Sin was basically the unofficial remake of Ultima 7 which had plenty of blood and violence.

Yeah, don't bother with Dragon Commander unless you're really into the lore because the gameplay isn't really great. The rest are good.
I never did get to finish the first one but it was a ton of fun while I played
I hope the second one gets lots of great mods as well
I'll have that enhanced edition of the original for my ps4 right now please
