• Trump says Joe Lieberman one of his top picks for FBI director
Former Sen. Joe Lieberman is one of President Donald Trump's top picks to be nominated as FBI director, Trump said Thursday. Speaking to reporters while meeting with Colombian President Juan Manuel Santos, Trump said he is "very close" to choosing a new FBI director to replace James Comey. And asked if Lieberman, the Democrat-turned-independent senator from Connecticut was a top candidate, Trump said yes. Trump met with Lieberman Wednesday and found him "agreeable," a source said. Trump and Attorney General Jeff Sessions have been interviewing candidates to lead the bureau since Trump suddenly fired former Comey last week only a few years into what was created to be up to a 10-year term. Alright, I've got to ask, what's wrong with him?
Alright, I've got to ask, what's wrong with him?
Tried to ban violent video games. Strong supporter of gun control. He's from Connecticut. I don't know if Trump said "yes" as a way to shut the media up, or what. I will say this. I hope he is NOT picked as FBI director. It's the equivalent of Hillary or Sanders picking Ted Cruz for a position, pretty much.
Alright, I've got to ask, what's wrong with him?
installing a lapdog politician instead of a seasoned fbi veteran. the only person who should be in consideration is the deputy director.
Get someone with actual experience in the FBI, or at the very least some sort of law enforcement experience, not a politician.
Alright, I've got to ask, what's wrong with him?
He has zero experience with law enforcement.
Alright, I've got to ask, what's wrong with him?
Here in CT Lieberman is well respected. A very bipartisan politician; but the problem is that the FBI director, especially now, should be a career civil servant, not a politician. The FBI is not a political organization. [editline]19th May 2017[/editline]
He's from Connecticut.
gee thanks dude lol
He's probably trying to throw a bone to democrats by appointing someone who is ostensibly on their team but I don't remember Lieberman being that fondly remembered outside of his home state. The party has only moved more left since Joe has been out of office. I guess there could be far worse options though.

I mainly started hating him after his bullshit claims video games cause violence. As soon as he said that, I lumped him in along with Jack Thompson and Dave Grossman. Anyways, I don't think he's the right choice for FBI director. Wasn't he A.G. at one point, or ran as Vice President for someone? Can't remember.

All I had remembered was he had a chance (Or was?) at being really high up, aside from being a CT Senator. Shocked he's still in politics, to be honest. He's around 75 years old I believe. If I were a politician I would have packed by bags and retired around 50. Live the rest of my life away from the heated debates and arguments.
He's not really, the only reason he's relevant again is because DJT made it so.
Alright, I've got to ask, what's wrong with him?
helped kill the public option for Obamacare
Alright, I've got to ask, what's wrong with him?
He works alongside Trump's legal team at his primary law firm. I dont know exactly how close Lieberman actually is to Trump, but at first glance it almost looks like Trump is hiring his own lawyer to be the head of the FBI. Lieberman shouldn't even be in consideration because of the potential conflict of interest.
Lieberman shouldn't even be in consideration because of the potential conflict of interest.
"Conflict of interest" is like Trump's middle name at this point though so why stop now?
Get someone with actual experience in the FBI, or at the very least some sort of law enforcement experience, not a politician.
Why would they do that? They're "tired of experts" after all. He's already chosen so many unqualified people for various positions, why would anyone think he would stop?
Working at the same law firm is a weak link. Law firms are big - reminder people made the same argument against Mueller because the law firm he was a partner of represented Jared & Ivanka.
Did you actually read BDA's post? Because he explicitly covered the difference between Mueller and Lieberman:
I dont know exactly how close Lieberman actually is to Trump, but at first glance it almost looks like Trump is hiring his own lawyer to be the head of the FBI.
Context matters. Mueller was merely a part of the law firm that represents Trump's daughter and her husband. Lieberman may be the same distance from Trump himself but BDA expressed that he wasn't sure. On top of that the law firm that personally represents Trump is also a degree closer to Trump himself as well. Plus on top of that is the concerns that Lieberman's not really qualified for the position. Trump could have avoided all of this easily by just going for someone else but he seems to be physically incapable of understanding the phrase "conflict of interest".
