Instead of being attracted people our own age, we are attracted to people from very weng (about 3 years old) to those just before puberty (as opposed to hebephiles, who are attracted to those from puberty to the start of adolescence, and ephebophiles, who are attracted to adolescents). Those that have this attraction can be split into two sub-groups: "child lovers" or some call them "true pedophiles", and "child rapists" who disregard the rights of children in favour of forcing them to perform sexual acts or produce pornography. Of all pedophiles, the overwhelming majority are "child lovers" who put the rights of children above our own, and do not force a child to do anything. A notable characteristic of this group is that the majority also abide by the laws, neither having sexual relationships with children (consensual) nor possessing illegal pornography. Pedophilia is a sexual attraction which resembles more of a sexual orientation than a mental disorder, with the latter being evident only in those pedophiles who cannot control it or whose lives are negatively affected by it. This sexual orientation might consist exclusively of children of a single or both sexes, or it might be part of a complex sexual identity incorporating any number of additional attractions, including hebephilia, ephebophilia, teleiophilia (attraction to adults), of one or both sexes. Being a pedophile, especially an exclusive pedophile, means that an important part of our sexuality is constrained by the society we live in. our attractions cannot be legally converted into sexual or romantic relationships, and even looking at or talking to weng people meeting the criteria for us to be attracted to them can be impossible, and even extremely taboo. Considering that our attraction to them will not end, substitutes for contact with them that are enjoyed by all other sexualities, like pornography and sex toys are not available to us, and our possession will endanger our liberty. We must constantly hide our attraction, and admitting our true attractions to others also endangers our liberty, our friendships and our safety, even if we have not broken the law. Even if a relationship with a child were possible, the overriding concern is the welfare of the child. Despite our beliefs that the sexual intimacy is not responsible for any damage to any participant, but the societal condemnation and victimisation culture is, we refrain from the relationship because we know that the social consequences could be damaging for our partner. Medicine considers that we have a mental illness, and currently, a handful of psychiatrists are trying to make hebephilia an illness as well (honestly, haven't humans evolved to be attracted to secondary sexual characteristics like breasts? Seriously, is this a mental illness? Google "DSM-V" and have a read). Law considers us to all be criminals, or worse still, pre-criminals. If we are caught for any reason, our entire life will forever be subject to strict controls and public scrutiny, even if we have served our time. No other criminal, even a murderer, is subject to this. Biology thinks our brain might be different on a structural level. Pedophiles include people, including some women, from all walks of life. Fire fighters, construction workers, doctors, teachers, lawyers, police officers, friends, neighbours, colleagues. Everyone. I have conducted my own very discreet, small social observations as a result of noticing a few things occurring in numerous preceeding environments. I have noticed that in the presence of adult women, men imitate our opinions about "right" and "wrong" but in situations without women, different opinions can occur. I saw men overhear a news report about the famous teenage boy and adult woman's relationship, and after women commented about it being "wrong" (despite the "boy" being physically mature and almost legal adult), the men also remarked it was wrong (despite most men having desired such a relationship at that age). However, this same group was walking down a city street and every single member stared and turned around to continue staring at a girl no older than twelve, dressed in what would be openly considered "super hot" on an adult women, in very small shorts, a tiny top (definitely not hiding her development) and sunglasses, carrying a small handbag and talking on her phone. Glances exchanged between the men showed a common understanding that appreciating her pubescent body was acceptable in our group, and when out of hearing distance, comments about sex with her because she had reached puberty were acceptable, and even humorous to all members. Does this mean women are the opinion leaders of morality in modern society? If so, what kind of implications does this have for men, pedophiles, and society? I also seem to recall that homosexuals were treated in precisely the same way. Persecution, incarceration, mental illness, taboo, etc. It's all there. Then, they formed groups and rebelled, and now, homosexuality is generally accepted as being normal. While some outlying groups are vehemently against it, most people accept it. Then, there's religion. I have personal suspicions that organised religion, predominantly Christianity, is responsible for many of the western world's issues involving the human body, nudity and sex. In the past, churches were the government. They charged taxes, registered births and deaths, and regulated marriages. Because they regulated marriages and their doctrine prohibited sex before it, they effectively regulated sex. Their doctrine provided opinions on nudity and sexuality that had to be followed, lest the believer be damned to an eternity in hell. These believers passed their beliefs down from generation to generation, even current generations of westerners carry religio-centric opinions of nudity and sex, despite never having stepped in a church, and not being religious. I suspect that having had a monopoly on sex and the control of the minimum age for marriage (and therefore, sex) for so long, the church has created a social taboo about sex before marriage, and now, in our more secular society, the marriage requirement has faded into history, but the age has not. However, there is joy in the life of a pedophile. Often a pedophile can be uplifted from the mere smile of a child, or the act of a child giving him/her a drawing, a hug, or a wave. A pedophile enjoys the company of a child, and enjoys mentoring, even if there is no promise of any sexual contact, even beyond the point a non-pedophile adult would be bored and annoyed by the child. Pedophiles play a positive role in society by doing things required by children, such as really listening and mentoring, when it is beneath a non-pedophile adult to do so. I've read accounts of police involving themselves in such situations because an overzealous observer thinks a person is paying too much attention to a child, despite nothing more than talking/listening, and the child being very traumatised that the best friend they ever had is gone. Pedophile or not, it seems cruel, and as a society, it is a terrible price for us to pay because we are collectively scared of some cartoonish "super villain" we don't understand. Pedophiles, perhaps being totally honest and open is the key. It would remove the fear from not knowing, and the bored populace would go back to eating donuts and watching TV, waiting for the next evil TV tells them to hate. Maybe then, some real understanding could be achieved. I also notice a very marked difference between the language used by pedophiles and that of "antis". Pedophiles speak of love, respect, rights of the child, happiness, care, tenderness, friendship, etc. Antis speak of hate, despise, our rights, extreme violence (no degree of torture, death and hatred is too much), loathing, etc. Pedophiles seek to have others understand them and accept them. Antis only want permanent incarceration, torture, murder, and all forms of violence. Although I don't know of anyone who knows the real answer, I think there are far too many pedophiles to incarcerate/kill/maim etc. Who'd do all our jobs, who'd pay our taxes, etc? This anti-pedophilia reaction is very surprising. Usually, this degree of reaction indicates a profound fear. What are we afraid of? Remember, I'm talking about non-rapist pedophiles here… Are we afraid of our kids learning about how pleasurable our bodies can be? Perhaps we need to be sent to bed with boxing gloves on to prevent masturbation. I'm very happy to discuss this, but I guess the main reason I wrote it is because I want people to see that we're people too and that there is a massive overreaction because of misunderstanding.
