http://www.familyentertainment1.com/cDaytona_USA.jpg I went into a local arcade the other day, And while playing a racing game with my girlfriend, I started wondering if you could buy these machines for home use. My brother has a pinball machine, But he only got that because his wife's sister ran a chip shop that closed down. So they gave it away. So, Can you buy an arcade game machine? If so, How much do they cost? Where from?
Yeah, you can buy 'em. Check out eBay or maybe local listings. I know there's a store down the street from me that sells cabinets. I'd expect to pay over $1,000 for most, though.
they're fairly expensive. look into using MAME and building a cabinet though. i think davep built one a while back.
For the Build Your Own idea. Could you make racing games with steering wheels/pedals? I saw one guy who made his own but it was just, forward, back, up down buttons. Which isn't as appealing to me.
Grab a logitech G25/G27, build yourself a cabnet, put a nice sized monitor in there and hook it up to a PC or PS3. Pow, instant below £500 arcade machine!
I had the same thought, except I wanted a Time Crisis 6 machine. That dream was quickly shattered when they were starting at $6,995.

Go on ebay. I'm sure you'll find some. But I'd expect them to be expensive.

I remember walking to the local Deli with one of my brothers to play this when I was younger.
I had the same thought, except I wanted a Time Crisis 6 machine. That dream was quickly shattered when they were starting at $6,995.
What? Time Crisis 6? They've only made Time Crisis up to 4 so far. And I'm in the process of saving up for a House of the Dead 2 Cabinet my local arcade is selling for £799 I have also built a Mame Cabinet, with the enter romset and a steering wheel.
Best place you'll find them is on eBay. But christ, they're fucking expensive.
Its funny how they are so fucking huge when nowadays you can fit hundreds of those games into a drive as long as my index finger.
yes, my rich friend has a arcade room and most of these machines (racing, shooting games, etc) cost range in the thousands (usd)
Its funny how they are so fucking huge when nowadays you can fit hundreds of those games into a drive as long as my index finger.
I've thought the same thing. Look at a NES cartridge compared to a 16gb sd card.
My dad had an old original Berzerk machine that he bought off of some guy for only $300. It worked for three days. Such is the nature of a lot of these old machines, and they're a pain in the rear to fix.
Sure as hell can. You just need to find someone in your area who sells them. Shipping for those things is probably outrageous.
Probably cheaper with tv cabinet wood xbox/ps3/wii tv
Build one like my father did :smug:
