Okay, just putting this out there, I am (IN NO WAY) incorporating my decisions with any video games WHATSOEVER.
Hi there. I just spent 2 2/3 of an hour in a small conference room, with a professional instructor. This is my first time ever handling a gun of any kind. And so here I am, spending a long time learning grip, stance, how to load 9mm rounds and .22 cal rounds. Afterwards, I headed down to the first floor lobby, readying up to shoot some .22 cartridges. I geared up, ear prop and eye pro and whatnot, and headed in.
The absolute first thing that happens when I walk in is my face completely flinches. I am one or two lanes away from a nice old shooting a big ass gun. It's very nice, actually. So anyway, the instructor demonstrated loading a magazine and prepping the gun. So it's rather easy, honestly. He shoots a round, and the Glock isn't even near as bad as I thought originally. So I've never shot before, but I did practice dry-fire and everything previously explained. So I ready up, breathe properly, and shoot. It was AWESOME. There was comfortable recoil, and no problems.
I promptly (Or what felt so) shot some cartridges, and loaded a few magazines. All in all, it's a nice experience. So here, you can share your experiences with rifles, marksmanship, and everything in between.
I honestly love weaponry, it's now my favorite hobby. I'm considering getting a permit, buying a weapon, and using the range often when I turn 21. If I were to get a handgun (Only such), what recommendations can you make for me? And don't redirect me to that other megathread or I'll sit on you.

Boxes.
Why not just post it in the megathread. :I
I shot down 20 ducks once- all in my living room! :smug:

1.3.3.7 deagle is better.
Well then, I guess LifeIsGood.
I'd prefer the Glock, Desert Eagles make no sense.
that was a pretty awesome blog
i shot a 22cal ruger pistol, a 22cal ruger rifle, and a magnum of some kind.
On a more serious note, i'd go with a glock or kimber 1911
I've shot a .50 cal sniper rifle. There was actually barely any recoil
How old are you LifeIsGood? I remember getting my first .22 when I was 8.
All my guns are rifles/shotguns. I've never shot a handgun before, though
I use a Smith and Wesson M&P Pro 9 for match shooting, it's a fun gun. 9mm and pretty much good to go out of the box. Reliable, and lightweight.

Damn your stereotypes on 13 year olds.
i went to an 8 hour pistol 101 session a couple years ago i shot a glock 9 mil. for about 2 hours, fun stuff. Are you going to be doing exhibition shooting or self defense?
More likely recreational until I'm of legal age.

Colts are nice too.
Can't go wrong with a revolver.
My dad has used this pistol, a Kimber Gold Match 1911. Over 100k rounds through it in its lifetime and it has seen over a hundred competitions. Still works like it was new.

I really recommend Exhibition shooting, it's really fun and a great hobby if you can afford the costs of ammo these days.
I felt uncomfortable with revolvers. No safety. Dainty ol' me.

The safety is not having it loaded.
Revolvers are a lot safer than semi-autos, in my opinion.
Go rent a bunch, try them out, and then purchase based on that.
It's the only intelligent thing to do.
How so? If I were to choose a revolver type, I'd probably go with a double-action only revolver.
