no where have I ever heard that MS is going to buy out Sony... They still make some pretty good TV's, computers, and other electronics, so I am fairly confident in saying that sony is not and will not in the foreseeable future go broke.

DLC needs to be free anyway, considering that you are not buying the full game if DLC is charged like 10 bucks. It also gives them excuses not to work on a sequel, which would net them alot more money than making DLC.

I don't really mind paying for it, but when it's valve, you expect to not have to. I mean, I bought 5 lots of 2100 ms points so I could get all 5 dlcs for fallout 3 on pc, tlad, alot of shit for my xbox live avatar, some skate 2 stuff, battlefield 1943, castle crashers and some stuff.
MS also "insisted" that COD4's map pack was to have a cost for DL as well, even when Infinity Ward specifically wanted it to be free.

Valve's all fine if they're using their own network because they'll turn up a profit since it's their DLC on their network, which benefits them directly (since you know, more L4D sales or something similar, which probably beats the bandwidth cost) but in MS' case it's valve's DLC on MS' network, something that doesn't benefit MS directly and actually, only harms them if the DLC is distributed freely, since they're left with a bigger bandwidth bill and no income whatsoever. If MS wants to charge for it then I'm all up for it, they need to recoup bandwidth expenses.
Plus, you already got the survivor update free. On the Xbox as well. What's really surprising is that MS is only charging 560mp for it. Check around, most DLC is 800mp.

Without the consoles the industry wouldn't be booming as it is. You think all the 13-year-old CoD4 players want to build/buy a £500+ PC? No, they want the easy option. And one of those consoles is Microsoft's. And if MS couldn't take advantage of customers in one way or other they wouldn't be in this business. It's just business.
