They've been doing a lot of internet based humor this past season- kickstarter, freemium apps, oculus rift, and now Let's Plays. Initially I thought it'd be great for this to all lead up to GamerGate, but honestly that whole thing would just be real stupid to bring up at this point. I do hope it has to something to do with gaming culture, but I hope it isn't about GG.

I think they're running out of ways to be offensive and decided to just be topical. Because that worked out so well for the Simpsons.

They could make a much broader episode focusing on journalism and ethics, along with SJW shit that comes along with it. Focusing on #GG specifically would be shit and circlejerky but its problems are in all forms of news and that could make for a pretty big episode and a much more important one. They could easily sneak in a GG reference with that by having one of the boys getting hyped for a game and eating journalists shit only to realize what they end up getting is complete garbage.

No, in modern Simpsons case, it's being topical a year after whatever they're parodying stopped being topical.
PDP is obviously conscious of the exaggerated proportion his channel has.
But hell, if it gets you to appear on south park and invited to a million places, coupled with a great pay, who wouldn't act like an twat on camera.

Pewdiepie, Markiplier, Tobuscus, etc are unbearable, but Let's Plays with 2 or more people are like 500 times better than single-person LPs. Achievement Hunters are consistently great, Spike and Barley are great, Game Grumps are okay, etc.

I love the game grumps. there are a few great LPers but generally they are awful
and ok "lets players are the worst" was dumb to say since that's WAY too general
