I see it a lot. It drives me absolutely crazy because it can turn some of the most intelligent people here into whiny, ignorant sheep.
I see it most with the following:
Marijuana (apparently it's REALLY deadly and will kill you instantly, or something)
Halo (it's apparently a horrible game, even with $170 million in sales on Halo 3's its first day)
Buying pre-made PC's (an absolute abomination and a technological blasphemy)
Game consoles (omg, controllers SUCK, the systems are too expensive, etc)
"Americans are fat, lolol"
One bad rating leads to 20, even for something small (whoops, I used the wrong form of "it's" in an otherwise perfect 4 paragraphs. Take 20 bad spellings)
Religion is evil and needs to be eradicated (EVERY religion is bad. Let's not forget about the sense of community it brings, and social coherence)
And some other topics.
It drives me NUTS because even with the most well-thought-out argument, there are still the ignorant masses here that refuse to listen and at that point change to being actually stupid (knowing the facts but not caring).
What gets me now is that because I see this and brought up such controversial topics, I will be labeled a troll. Once I am labeled that, everyone will believe it, despite my attempts at proving otherwise, thus proving the whole bandwagon effect here.
Deal with it.
People want to fit in.
it's cool to follow the crowd, didn't you already know that?
1) Uh no. Nobody here says that.
2) It's generic compared to say, Half-Life.
3) They're overpriced.
4) Yeah, they suck.
5) More than 60% of Americans are overweight or obese.
6) That's because it's fucking easy to learn.
7) Um, what? I don't see fundies creating a sense of community.
A lot of the time, the shit's true.
Except the weed thing, that only applies to 1-16 year olds in America I believe.
People don't like to go against the flow.
I like Halo.
I smoke pot. I do have a very, very bad short memory span now though.
I own a 360 (7th one to break on me HURR) an PS3 (its great) and a wii.
Americans aren't fat, I went there and only saw a few fatties.
I build my own computer. I hate dell.
If I see someone rated I'll feel more inclined to rate them the same.
Religion is bad, see the father prays to god, daughter dies thread.
Oh, I see now why you defend Halo.
Your name's based on Halo.
-fuck-
1/3 of the time, OP's don't know what they're talking about.
Let's all give him boxes.
About the ratings, just deal with it. It's just an icon below your post, nothing more.
The thing is, most of the stuff I said in the OP are basically the same accusatory generalizations I see EVERYWHERE around this forum. Everyone here can deny it all they want, but it is true. 100 percent.
I'm trying to figure out why this is, not get into a debate on each specific thing I brought up in the OP.

Just how is Halo generic? Because it's humans fighting aliens? Then I guess Half-Life is generic.
If an OP posts something it's wrong.
If the exact same thing is in the first post it is right.
Basic rule of thumb.
watch those 2 disagrees turn into 20 on your op
Did he say Halo was generic :|

Bandwagon Ratings
Just how is Halo generic? Because it's humans fighting aliens? Then I guess Half-Life is generic.
A) Incredibly predictable story.
B) Very fucking annoying gameplay. It's impossible to kill someone in multiplayer.
C) Half-Life isn't generic - the story is told from a unique perspective, and the world is quite fleshed out.
Stop with the bandwagon bandwagon, you aren't cool for being different :downs:
Just how things are, deal with it like the rest of us do.
Just how is Halo generic? Because it's humans fighting aliens? Then I guess Half-Life is generic.
No, Half Life has a good storyline, and is actually hard to beat if you play it the first time. Halo is easy, and everything it needs to suck completely is IDDQD at startup
B) Very fucking annoying gameplay. It's impossible to kill someone in multiplayer.
You're kidding, right?
There's no way you're actually that bad at shooters.
Ssshhhh don't let them know.
Ok, guys lets stop derailing, this is a thread about bandwagons, not about HALO SUX LOOOOOOOOOOLOLOL

You have to literally unload an entire magazine into somebody in order to kill them.
