If you believe the word of Edward Snowden, NSA employees regularly pass around intimate nude shots that are intercepted, along with endless amounts of other data, as part of the US government’s vast surveillance efforts. As noted by Ars Technica, Snowden made the claims during a marathon, seven-hour interview with The Guardian when asked about specific instances of power abuse he’d observed during his time as an NSA contractor. "You’ve got young enlisted guys, 18 to 22 years old. They’ve suddenly been thrust into a position of extraordinary responsibility where they now have access to all of your private records. Snowden said these individuals often "stumble across something that is completely unrelated to their work" — like a nude photo of someone in "a sexually compromising situation." If the subject proves attractive enough, these workers are all too eager to let others in on the fun. "So what do they do? They turn around in their chair and they show their coworker." That sets off a chain where the most raw and private types of content — assumed to be part of a private conversation — become water cooler topics at NSA HQ. "Sooner or later, this person’s whole life has been seen by all these people. It’s never reported. Nobody ever knows about it because the auditing of these systems is incredibly weak." To be fair, this is the sort of accusation that's nearly impossible for the NSA to thoroughly dispute or discredit. And Snowden hedged slightly, saying "it could be more or less frequent" depending on the maturity level of employees.
oh well uh fuck I thought they were at least being professional about infringing on our basic freedoms.
And no one is surprised.
you'd think if they were looking at people's private shit like this there'd at least be some monitoring, this is dumb as hell
This is why I send only my best nudes directly to the NSA via certified mail.
Seems like an issue of lack of training.
You've got young enlisted guys, 18 to 22 years old. [editline]18th July 2014[/editline] And, to be the devil's avocado here,
To be fair, this is the sort of accusation that's nearly impossible for the NSA to thoroughly dispute or discredit.
Just because Snowden was right before doesn't mean everything he says is correct. I'd wait for an official reply to see what they say.
I'm pretty sure this wouldn't happen to me because all of the workers would puke violently and then pass out from seeing my nudes.
And no one is surprised.
I dunno, I'm pretty fucking surprised. NSA have my data? Not surprised. NSA has a picture of my dick that they passed around? Pretty God damn surprised.
I'm pretty sure this wouldn't happen to me because all of the workers would puke violently and then pass out from seeing my nudes.
We can destroy the NSA if we just take pictures of our naked and horribly obese bodies and sext them to people. Send them to Al-qaeda for extra chance of it being intercepted.
Just because Snowden was right before doesn't mean everything he says is correct. Do you really think they are going to tell everyone the truth, especially when it discredits them and hurts their reputation? We wouldn't have these leaks if they were a transparent organization in the first place. IMO they do jack shit to stop terrorists and need to be disbanded.
Nude photos of people you knew got passed around at school like a virus so I can't see this being all that unlikely when those same kids get placed into a position of power later on.

Sure, NSA might have the motive, but come on - it's his word against theirs, and neither can prove it either way. [editline]18th July 2014[/editline] Innocent until proven guilty and all that.
Has it become custom around here to accuse people of misdeeds and not let them speak for themselves?
no but you gotta admit the NSA kinda has a shitty track record with this stuff.
no but you gotta admit the NSA kinda has a shitty track record with this stuff.
Past performance is not necessarily indicative of future results. You can't assume everything people say about them is true just because some of it is. Again, they're innocent until proven otherwise.
i'm not a big supporter of snowden but do you really think the NSA is going to come out and say "yep we've got young officers whacking off to your pictures sorry we're all chronic masturbators" no, they're going to decry him as a traitor and say it's bullshit. obviously.
His point is that unless those files, and in this case security footage of NSA facilities, are released this is all "he said she said", and testimony is the worst form of evidence.
Hahaha, let's wait and see what the NSA says and then pass judgement, yeah right.
if I were snowden and just wanted to continually send fuck-you's to the US I'd totally throw out this kind of petty pointless jab at the NSA looking at your butt, knowing full well everyone will just expect the NSA to deny it either way
Well if the AI filtration system finds a hit or an ambiguity, then the respective objects are bound to end up in front of human verifiers. Makes sense that they would abuse their already abusive powers.
i'm sure they pinned my glorious figure on the wall next to "employee of the month" B-)
Hope they get a good look cause I gave that part of my life up a long time ago. [editline]18th July 2014[/editline] Oh wait, nude photos? Nevermind, I just saw "NSA" "Work" and "Photos." [editline]18th July 2014[/editline] I never did wetwork for the NSA.
I've never taken nudes before, but it looks like a good time to start
Why i'm not surprised?
I think this could be truthful. He has mountain loads of evidence of abuses by the NSA, I don't think he'd risk lying (and possibly discrediting parts of his work that resulted in his exile from his life) when he doesn't need to lie - especially for something more tame than his original expose.
"Hey, did you look at that Google file yet?" "Nah, I left it on Little Dick Rick's desk."
What if NSA are actually trying to act as a natural selection replacement and they only arrest unattractive people so that USA can be made up exclusively of good looking people? Survival of the prettiest

Why do all of these NSA threads remind me of Gaston's Song near the end of the movie? "The NSA will tear your children asunder in the night!" *People gasp* "They will know that you look up alot of weird porn, and share your pics of your small dicks around the office!" *another gasps and a few angry murmurs*
They probably have celebrity nudes too
They probably have celebrity nudes too
Where do I apply for a job there?
