Vice President Joe Biden revealed that President Barack Obama might use an executive order to deal with guns. "The president is going to act," said Biden, giving some comments to the press before a meeting with victims of gun violence. "There are executives orders, there's executive action that can be taken. We haven't decided what that is yet. But we're compiling it all with the help of the attorney general and the rest of the cabinet members as well as legislative action that we believe is required." Biden said that this is a moral issue and that "it's critically important that we act." Biden talked also about taking responsible action. "As the president said, if you're actions result in only saving one life, they're worth taking. But I'm convinced we can affect the well-being of millions of americans and take thousands of people out of harm's way if we act responsibly." Biden, as he himself noted, helped write the Brady bill. Eric Holder was scheduled to be at the meeting that's currently take place at the White House.
Source: http://www.weeklystandard.com/blogs/biden-obama-might-use-executive-order-deal-guns_694984.htmlhttp://www.weeklystandard.com/blogs/biden-obama-might-use-executive-order-deal-guns_694984.html Other source: http://times247.com/articles/biden-hints-at-executive-order-for-gun-control
So much for the legislature branch of the government.
guns are a clusterfuck no matter how you deal, or dont deal with them.

This would be the stupidest thing Obama could ever possibly do. I have absolutely no doubt that an executive gun ban would cause at the very least riots, and at the worst a civil war.
I read the article, Scout1. They'll still use the executive order. Regardless of "asking for an okay from Congress", it doesn't make it right in anyway.
So much for the legislature branch of the government.
checks & balances brah
Also, I just realized the source is a conservative opinion magazine so I'm gonna take this with a grain of salt.

An executive order regarding gun control would be suicide in more ways than one and Obama knows that.
Anyone that votes for this to pass or even contributes in this stupid bill will never have a political career after this. Here is the thing about guns, democrats and republicans own them and use them. This whole situation is messed up, you got a bunch of idiots talking about firearms as if they're experts when in reality they don't know jack shit. Got news anchors who are passing off opinions and expert facts, etc. I've not seen one firearm expert, law enforcement, or CCH permit holder sharing their opinions on mainstream media. The fact they're only giving this bill/legislation a month or two to get in order is crazy. This will be a rushed bill that these people will regret for a long fucking time. I'm for smarter gun-control as when it comes to background checks and the process to purchase and maintain. But outright bans are retarded. Then you got the media saying the school shooting was sick and horrible, there is a mental health issue and they turn around seconds later to make the active shooter a fucking anti-hero/villain by making him sound like a total badass.
An executive order regarding gun control would be suicide in more ways than one and Obama knows that.
"I don't have to worry about a 3rd term anyway"
"I don't have to worry about a 3rd term anyway"
He would have to worry about a term cut short though.
He would have to worry about a term cut short though.
Then Biden becomes president, the guy who was set to look into this gun control thing. Yeah, that'll fix things :v:
He would have to worry about a term cut short though.
A lot of militia groups have sprung up since he has taken office, I'm afraid if they got pushed to far they would actually do something. All these people fear one person who can commit an active shooter, imagine a very large group 100+ militiamen.
"I don't have to worry about a 3rd term anyway"
Maybe Obama will get a 3rd term. Probably clamp down on them heavily or something.
It'd be political suicide if he were to try some stupid bull shit like this.
Maybe Obama will get a 3rd term. Source: http://www.opencongress.org/bill/111-hj5/show
Yeah, I've heard of that bill. It won't get anywhere. Lots of dumb bills get suggested in Congress, more than a majority of them don't even get half looked at.
Yeah, I've heard of that bill. It won't get anywhere. Lots of dumb bills get suggested in Congress, more than a majority of them don't even get half looked at.
Fair enough
If militia groups rose up like that I don't think they would be trusted much after the insurrection was put down. Probably clamp down on them heavily or something.
It would be political suicide to order the US armed forces to put down an insurrection in modern time.
I read the article, Scout1. They'll still use the executive order. Regardless of "asking for an okay from Congress", it doesn't make it right in anyway.
Not like the legistlature has been doing anything for the US lately anyway
Not like the legistlature has been doing anything for the US lately anyway
That's a separate problem and not an excuse.
It would be political suicide to order the US armed forces to put down an insurrection in modern time.
Well what else would you do to stop a bunch of loony rednecks running around shooting federal employees and robbing the liquor stores?
Biden talked also about taking responsible action. "As the president said, if you're actions result in only saving one life, they're worth taking. But I'm convinced we can affect the well-being of millions of americans and take thousands of people out of harm's way if we act responsibly."
'Saving one life' How about helping families which have already lost something? Or how about giving kids proper education, so they've got a chance to become something, so they are not forced to delve into crime? What of mental healthcare? What of just normal healthcare? Of all the things these spineless cowards have to speak of, it's something which only becomes relevant with the deaths of children. It's utterly disgusting, and is not true politics.
Well what else would you do to stop a bunch of loony rednecks running around shooting federal employees and robbing the liquor stores?
I can't tell if you're being sarcastic or seriously think that this is the cause of firearm violence.
the conspiracy theorists are going to go nuts he's about to initiate the New World Order wake up sheeple waah waah
Well what else would you do to stop a bunch of loony rednecks running around shooting federal employees and robbing the liquor stores?
This is a part of the problem here, stereotyping. People like you are the ones that want to stereotype gun-owners as nutjobs, etc. There is more to militias then what you say, they're a group of people with a common concern. If you actually did some research on the topic and educated yourself you will find that almost every state has some form of militia group. Some groups have a very pure and clean motive, others can be pretty crazy. It just depends. Though ironically enough some of these groups are so large that normally would promote concern but none of them have committed any crimes, despite being armed and trained in certain aspects.
I can't tell if you're being sarcastic or seriously think that this is the cause of firearm violence.
This is genuinely what I think militia groups would do once they heard Obongo was coming for them.
