[release]UPDATE: Republican Conference Chairman Mike Pence (R-Ind.) is the first House member to join Bachmann's Tea Party Caucus.
* * * * *
Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-Minn.) filed paperwork on Thursday to create a House Tea Party Caucus, which she will chair.
"The American people are speaking out loud and clear," she said in a statement. "They have had enough of the spending, the bureaucracy, and the government knows best mentality running rampant today throughout the halls of Congress. This caucus will espouse the timeless principles of our founding, principles that all Members of Congress have sworn to uphold. The American people are doing their part and making their voices heard and this caucus will prove that there are some here in Washington willing to listen."
Bachmann led a "House call" rally against health-care reform on Capitol Hill last fall that brought together tea party activists and Republican officials. In a recent interview, Rand Paul (R-Ky.) said he would like to start a tea party caucus in the Senate if he wins this fall.
Two staff members recently left Bachmann's office in a major shake-up.[/release]
Oh Bachmann, will you never cease to amuse us?
Gotta give bachmann credit for being a Republican in MN. If I state I am republican, I get lynched.

So where was the Tea Party during the previous administration when this was happening?
Forgive my ignorance, but what exactly will creating a Tea Party Caucus exactly do?

Minnesota's sounding nicer and nicer
It's just a defense tactic by Republican incumbents to avoid being stabbed in the back by the far-right elements of their own constituencies.
"I'm in the Tea Party caucus! I'm one of you! Please vote for me instead of someone batshit crazier than me!"
That is, if you can even find someone more batshit crazy than Bachman is.
I'm more than okay with this!
The last thing we need is for a political ideology as ridiculous and unreasonable as the tea party to be entertained seriously in the upper echelons of the united states government.

Like we don't have one in now?
Michele Bachmann is a joke. She believes the following:
-Climate Change via CO2 is a hoax and that CO2 is not harmful because it is natural
-That the Census asked too much information and urged people not to fill it out. (This is funny because she was in danger of losing her seat in the house due to a lower population)
-Contributed to the joke that is the death panel from the new health system.
-Advocates teaching intelligent design
-We should consider nuking Iran.
-The gay community is specifically targeting children
-She is anti-abortion (So, the gov has the right to tell you if you can have a baby, but how dare they try to eliminate incandescent light bulbs!)
-We are a nation of slaves
looks like a soccer mom trying to look smart
When a nation is in crisis, its leaders should show videos of this woman and the Tea Party in general to the population so they are thankful for living in their respective countries.

Close, but still not that crazy.
I could have swore the title said cactus

I meant in Congress, not overall. There are obviously tons more insane people out there, but Bachmann's pretty high up on the wingnut meter for congress. I can't really think of any other congressperson that's as batshit as she is

Yes we don't
[editline]05:20PM[/editline]
have a crazy person in power that is
my only hope is that the tea party gets more radical and creates a divide between the tea party movement and the republican party. meaning obama may get reelected ;)
you can see this already happening as many "moderate republicans" are turning to more radical measures to appease these fucktards
[editline]12:21AM[/editline]
oh and the tea party isn't as big and organized as the media portrays them, maddow did an interesting show on them the other day

Why is this person in the government? She shouldn't even be part of the postal service.
Gotta give bachmann credit for being a Republican in MN.
No you don't. Central and rural areas of minnesota are remarkably conservative.
She's at the same level as Sarah Palin, and I'm ashamed my state has a representative like her.
If I state I am republican, I get lynched.
No, you wouldn't.
If I had a nickel for every use of "batshit insane," well holy hell...
No matter what you'll try to get rid of the Tea Party, they'll always be Bach, Mann
How do I go about applying for Swedish citizenship?
