Graphics On/Off made me giggle.
the gaming universe evolves...get over it, its not the first time. I deserve dumbs, make a box fort
the gaming universe evolves...get over it, its not the first time.
"Evolving" is not an excuse to make shittier games and pull shit like day 1 DLC.
the gaming universe evolves...get over it, its not the first time.
And people like you are just helping it right along in the wrong direction.
"Evolving" is not an excuse to make shittier games and pull shit like day 1 DLC.
i know, i know i thought he was comparing the fast pace quake, to say, Call of Duty, My bad
Looks like he's just mad that games now are not a giant dickhopping contest where you turn a corner and die from something unexplainable as someone flies past your FOV in a millisecond. And I know of no game that has that many hints in it.
i know, i know i thought he was comparing the fast pace quake, to say, Call of Duty, My bad
Call of duty is fast paced.
Call of duty is fast paced.
not as fast though.
I miss games like Quake, Battlefield 3 is fun but filled with so much bullshit and the fact AAA games with millions of dollars pumped into them are so flawed is quite distressing.
Call of duty is fast paced.
Nowhere near as fast paced as quake however.
Horrible parody He didn't get ANY XP at all, shitty game
Holy fuck the ending, I remember trying to do that in MDK I take that back, I think it was nanosaur
the gaming universe evolves...get over it, its not the first time.
Evolving doesn't assume the world is getting dumber each day. By having hints pop up all the freaking time (don't deny it, most games do this, and it's annoying), you might as well be watching a video of someone else playing it. What ever happened to figuring shit out yourself? Day 1 DLC/Updates has always pissed me off. Not only is it a sad excuse to make a few extra bucks by taking out some features only to pay for it the day of release (or any time after wards), but it's demeaning towards the gaming community to take advantage of us like that. If you're going to make additions to a game either make it a free UPDATE, or make it a full expansion with more features than just a few new weapons and 3 new multiplayer maps. This video emphasizes everything wrong with gaming today. 1) Gamers constantly have the game itself hold their hands, there is no challenge anymore. 2) Developers assume gamers want a realistic experience, when in reality, we want a fun experience. (Want to add destructible environments? Don't do it for realism, do it because it's fun!) 3) Boss battles are the same, easy and repetitive. Either the boss has huge HP, takes X hits, has 5 forms each only changing one thing at a time, or it's a puzzle that doesn't feel like you're even fighting the boss to begin with. A boss shouldn't just be an "Epic" version of the first guy you encounter.
That was good. He could have also included, as has been mentioned here and on the video comments: -Experience -Achievements -Aim helping -Regenerating Health -Bloody screen, so real! I forgot: -Chest high walls -Quick Time Events -Zombies, zombies everywhere -Flashy finishers
couple of notes: -You actually did have to press ESC or SPACE or something to bring up the menu to play the game. When you didn't the demo would play so that's something that hasn't really changed. -The graphics options in Quake were pretty similar to today's graphics options. Most of the graphics quality actually came from having a OpenGL card so you didn't have much of a choice if you didn't have one. -Though DLC didn't exist, us Quake fans did get two very disappointing expansion packs which were overpriced in Europe. -Quake did have several hints. i know the point of this video was to make me nostalgic for quake, but as someone who's played quake to the point of my eyes hurting I think this highlighted the problem that games actually haven't changed that much since Quake. Still a cute game though. I bet i could whoop his ass.
Unreal Tournament is better
both quake and unreal tournament shined on in my childhood as fantastic games and half-life
You couldn't do DLC's or updates back then because internet connections were not even good enough for it yet.
still play a little unreal tournament now. :D
You couldn't do DLC's or updates back then because internet connections were not even good enough for it yet.
still no excuse for over doing them like most games companies do and not to mention most DLCs nowadays are a fucking ripoff with crappy extra content that isn't worth the money you waste on them.
The boss fight part is so true
If the original Deus ex was made today
This is why I love Bethesda/Epic games/Valve so much. UT is amazing, Bethesda makes games you can play for weeks, and Valve also makes some quick witted games. [editline]2nd November 2011[/editline]
Call of duty is fast paced.
Barely compared to Quake
I will always the satisfaction of a M-M-MOSTER KILL KILL
You don't understand satire do you?
pfff satire? that's complementing it a bit much. if it is satire then the point would be to analyze it because that's what you do with satire.
If the original Deus ex was made today
Funny as it is, I do kind of feel that DX:HR didn't suffer from such issues as much like most other games have.
so many people in this thread missed the point by miles
Forgot bloody screen (and tacticool rail attachments)
Graphic options remind me of From Dust.
