It's not everyone's thing, but I'm pretty excited for this. Toho has been on point as of late.
That looks fucking fantastic. I missed the whole "SDF vs. Godzilla" dynamic.
The last one was missing that, it was just a monster duel against the mudo-or-whatever with 80% less Godzilla than we're usually treated too.
The only thing I don't like is how Godzilla looks pretty stationary through the whole thing
That music was fantastic.
Wait
I didn't post this trailer? I was late!? I have failed the fandom!
Jokes aside, really loving the night shots

I dunno I feel like it helps sell the idea that Godzilla is this immovable object of terror to me.

Also it's super similar to the 1954 version, especially how he holds his arms.
Granted that was because the suit was nearly 200 pounds

Soundtrack is fantastic, but I seriously hope they at least have some of Ifukube's work in there, at the very least the Godzilla March. That was an immense disappointment with 2014 that they didn't try a single track from the guy's work.

Aw shit son looks like its purple
this might going to be the most pirated film of the year if not all time.
As I said before, I like this design but the tail is dumb. It's cartoonishly long, especially in the wide shot 10 seconds in.
Most of that new design looks goddamn terrifying, like a mix of lava/molten shit or really bright blood flowing around the outside of him, jeez.
As much as I'm excited to see how anno will reinvent the wheel for Godzilla. I can't help it but feel like he forgot about the final rebuild movie. But otherwise. This is looking tight.

I don't think he forgot; just delayed (again?). Haven't seem any of the old Godzilla movies except maybe parts of the one featuring Space Godzilla, and the ending made me cry. I should probably watch them.
I love the design when it's not in motion. From what they've shown, it looks a bit too stiff in motion and part of it comes from the face. It looks terrifyingly amazing as a design though, plus the film seems fairly fantastic when it's on the monster stuff (not a big complaint as it's a common issue for the genre).

He hasn't forgotten, his time was just taken up by the godzilla movie.

OK I can forgive the meth mouth Godzilla but WHY gross meth hands?

Check out some of the original, the second American movie, and the Millenium movies.
I still have to get around to many of the classics myself. I'd recommend Godzilla Against Mechagodzilla (2002) for some genuinely decent giant monster storytelling, and Final Wars for just Godzilla whipping the shit out of every fucking thing on the planet.
All I've seen is the classics my self, my bro is a huge Godzilla fanatic. When we went on a road trip all I was allowed to watch was the classics on bulky portable CRT TV with built in VCR.

it looks pretty spooky
His tail is almost bigger than him
Looks pretty great.
That said, it's not as amazing as the upcoming Shin-Chan VS Godzilla special though :v:

He's supposed to look like he survived a nuke or some other type of weapon. His hands are constantly in the clutching position because that's what happens to humans when we're burned alive. Just thematic shit really.
This couldn't feel more like Hideaki if they tried. This is heavily reminiscent of a scene where an Angel attacks Tokyo-3. It's the Godzilla movie I never knew I wanted
I have a feeling the soundtrack is gonna be extremely similar to the rebuild evangelion movies. That song feels straight out of the 3.33.
Anyone else getting a "End of the World" vibe from Godzilla and the film in general? Godzilla was about destruction and chaos because our use of atomic bombs created him. Here? He looks like a messenger for the End of Days, something not a lot of Kaiju films do. Sure, watching James Rolfe talk about Destroyah being a demon, and Godzilla after the first one was always a lumbering guardian.
Possible plot point from the rumor mill that is Tohokingdom and r/Godzilla
[sp]It is believed that one of the major conflicts in the movie is the Self Defense Force's tiny number of men and relative inability to fight Godzilla, and them scrambling to find a way to stop him before the US arrives. The reason the SDF wants to get it over with ASAP is because they fear American forces may quickly switch to the nuclear option in order to destroy Gojira, which is something that Japan obviously is not in the mood for a third time.[/sp]

So basically payback for Pearl Harbor?

[sp]But why would it be payback if the US wants to kill Gojira?[/sp] Or was that a joke?
