Xiu Qiong Duan, 68, told the SINA Beijing news agency she woke up in the middle of the night to find the snake clinging to the wall of her bedroom. "I woke up and heard a strange scratching sound ... at first I thought it was thieves" she said. "I turned on the light and saw this monster working its way along the wall using his claw." Ms Duan, from Suining in southwest China, said she then grabbed a shoe and beat the snake to death. She reportedly preserved its body in a bottle of alcohol which she gave to the Life Sciences Department at China's West Normal University in Nanchang. Snake expert Long Shuai said the discovery of the creature, which is 40cm long and the thickness of a little finger, was "truly shocking". "We won't know the cause until we've conducted an autopsy," she said.
http://news.ninemsn.com.au/world/863766/snake-born-with-hand-shocks-scientists It's a shame the lady killed it, it would have been interesting to see how/if the snake adapted to the mutation.
I thought it said 'head' in the title. I was confused.

They're evolving! [editline]ur dum[/editline] I hope you all realized I was joking it was a joke stop taking it seriously
I hope it could reproduce before the woman killed it. Arm snakes would be cool, nowhere would be safe then.
I can't blame her for flipping out and killing that snake, because in all honesty, I would too. It's a shame that she did, because it would be interesting to see how this could have affected snake mutations, but too little to late.
well that's that
I would have killed it too given it creeping along my wall like some scary chaos daemon esque thing. It is pretty curious though, and I wonder that if it reproduced the further down offspring could maybe gain legs? Ah shit.

I've seen this article posted in ITN before.
What's next, spiders with wings and a thirst for human blood? Yay, nature!
What's next, spiders with wings? Yay, nature!
Fixed. I believe we already have the latter. :suicide:
40cm (15.75 in) long and the thickness of a little finger scary
This is has been posted before, and is from 2009. [editline]00[/editline] And considering it's been nearly three years since this was found and no word on that necropsy, I'm pretty sure this is fake.
So, it's like half a lizard?
I would actually be pretty suprised if I saw a snake on the wall and I'd also be pretty pissed about it ruining my wallpaper with its weirdo claws, but what the hell was it gonna do keep it as a pet, donate it to science or some shit
Pretty sure all snakes have remains of redundancy legs, just like humans have remains of a tail. Now if a human would mutate to get a tail, that'd be pretty kickass. Or just weird as hell...
Evolution in progress bitches!
Oh god soon they will be everywhere! Our schools, our homes and our streets! Holding tiny snake guns with their tiny snake hands! REPENT! THE END IS NIGH! REPENT I TELLS YA!
So it ate a lizard?
So a lizard fucked a snake?
What if they learn to open doors, we are fucked.
atleast she preserved and donated it.
What if they learn to open doors, we are fucked.
IT BEGINS.
The first snake with a limb and SHE FUCKING KILLS IT THINK OF ALL THE SCIENCE THAT COULD BE HAD We shall recreate this terrifying beast by mating snakes with lizards
And people say Evolution is false...
IT BEGINS.
AGAIN!
Snakes maybe have a gene that inhibits arm growth, and it malfunctioned in this individual?
Holy shit Usually mutations like this are disadvantageous but the damn thing was using it to claw itself along a wall! That's like a spider crossed with a snake! Amazing how it was actually using it and it functioned correctly
Snakes maybe have a gene that inhibits arm growth, and it malfunctioned in this individual?
Or there's a proud and brave father lizard walking around somewhere.
