• Goodbye warm weather in 2014: 'Bomb cyclone' in Alaska to make the rest of the US and Canada plunge
(CNN) -- A strong storm over the Bering Sea -- the remnants of Super Typhoon Nuri -- will bring intense winds, massive waves and heavy rain and snow to coastal Alaska and the Aleutian Islands. But don't ignore it just because it is a sparsely populated area with residents who are accustomed to severe weather. The powerful storm will whip the jet stream, causing a ripple effect that will carry the cold air to the East Coast. This arctic outbreak will funnel down through Canada over the next week, bringing a deep freeze to the eastern United States, with temperatures forecast 20 degrees below average. The storm carries the energy of the typhoon and its current strength is derived from clashes of hot and cold air. This incredibly strong cyclone will alter the jet stream allowing for the cold air to plunge into the United States next week. The effects of the cold air will be felt as early as the weekend, as temperatures will cool in the East Coast. But a second cold front with really cold air will make its way into the Upper Midwest Sunday and the East Coast by the end of next week. That second front will bring snow from Montana to the Great Lakes starting on Sunday. By Wednesday, snow may reach as far north as New England.
http://www.cnn.com/2014/11/07/us/severe-weather/index.html?hpt=us_c2
Hope the winter in Europe will ot be like the last one too, we had basically 5°C all the time and then suddenly -25°C over night.

[editline]10th November 2014[/editline] It's cyclone season here too but usually they've got bitchy names and kill people.
we are all going to DIE
Y'know, just in case any of you guys wanted to experience a miniature version of nuclear winter.
we are all going to DIE
Dibs on the avatar.
Y'know, just in case any of you guys wanted to experience a miniature version of nuclear winter.
Patrolling the Mojave almost makes you wish for nuclear winter.
Oh come on, it already gets fifty degrees Fahrenheit in northern Florida, now we're going to get thirty degrees. Well, at least it might snow, giving everything a reason to be cold as hell.
Holy shit, 20 degr- Ooh, you mean your silly American degrees. No biggie.
Nuke it.
Okay good, eastern Canada. I live in the west and it already hits -40 C .. which is so cold you can throw a cup of boiling water and it instantly turns into snow.
is this considered an attack on canadian and us soil by alaskan weather gnomes?
This is the same story; http://facepunch.com/showthread.php?t=1436108 but in case it isn't, here is a map; [t]https://cbsboston.files.wordpress.com/2014/11/dipole.png?w=630&h=316[/t]
Good. It's November 10th and I still don't need a coat to go outside. This is silly. Bring on winter!
am I the only one who perfer's cold and (snowy) over warm and or tropical weather.
Honestly, I'd enjoy actually having a white christmas for once. Since 1901, we've only had a white christmas 7 times.
In Denmark it's only every 14 years we get to have a true white Christmas. ):
For fuck sakes it's gonna be real cold in Cape Breton :(
am I the only one who perfer's cold and (snowy) over warm and or tropical weather.
If it's too cold for you, you can add layers. If it's too hot, you can only take off layers until you're naked. Rather have a chilly day than a hot day.
bring it weather! I've been wanting to have some damn cold :v: i'm sick of humid heat all the time
If it's too cold for you, you can add layers. If it's too hot, you can only take off layers until you're naked. Rather have a chilly day than a hot day.
Though both are uncomfortable, sweating my ass off is preferable than freezing my balls off.
Hot weather is usually discomfort, but cold weather is usually pure pain.
Though both are uncomfortable, sweating my ass off is preferable than freezing my balls off.
to you maybe, i rather have cold than heat
Though both are uncomfortable, sweating my ass off is preferable than freezing my balls off.
at least being cold doesn't make you gross to those around you
if it's still not cold enough for you i recommend opening your windows at night, turning off the lights, putting headphones on, and playing The Long Dark. Then you'll be fucking cold.
Though both are uncomfortable, sweating my ass off is preferable than freezing my balls off.
eh, the cold doesnt make you look like a pig if youre outside for too long and its much easier to heat something than keep it cool.
In Denmark it's only every 14 years we get to have a true white Christmas. ):
I've been living in my current rural Tennessean house since 1997. Closest I've ever come to a white christmas was a 3" deposit on new year's night. Past five years Christmas Day has been so warm that I was running the air conditioner on the way to my extended family's place to celebrate.
In Denmark it's only every 14 years we get to have a true white Christmas. ):
it's the same in the UK ): and when it happens, it's usually only in scotland (fuck you scotland)
Honestly, I'd enjoy actually having a white christmas for once. Since 1901, we've only had a white christmas 7 times.
They're overrated. Not being able to work or actually do anything and having to shovel snow really fucking sucks.
Cold > heat, unless it starts freezing rain constantly, fuck that.
