CVS announced in February that it planned to drop tobacco by Oct. 1 as the sales conflicted with its health care mission. To bolster its image as a health care company, CVS will announce a corporate name change to CVS Health. Retail stores will still be called CVS/Pharmacy.
The article is a month old but they just stopped selling tobacco products about a week ago.

The CVS stores near me stopped selling tobacco around a month ago. Which is weird because tobacco is pretty much my state's main export, I would expect the ones around here to try and hold off on it for awhile.

makes sense. good to see such a large company caring about more than just making money
oh shit i guess i'm gonna have to buy cigarettes from the hundreds of other stores that still sell them now
Good. Now get rid of cigars too.
considering the CVS is more leaning on "health" shopping store, i am not surprised.
Well, as long as they still sell whiskey, I'll survive

...those ARE tobacco
it posted months before or deja vu
That's gonna radically change what the cashier area of my local CVS looks like, given that the entire back wall there is nothing but tobacco products. :v:
What are they even gonna put on all those empty shelves?

That's not the point, though. Other stores will follow as CVS starts to look better for it.
Sure, liquor stores and small shops will still sell tobacco, but the larger chains will stop one by one.

Prolly nicotine patches and stuff like that, that's what my local CVS does.

gotta love CVS

Nah, there's too much demand for tobacco for stores to just up and quit selling it. If people want their nicotine, they'll get it. We really should be advertising alternatives like e-cigarettes and offering addiction help.

Kind of similar to what the campus of the college that I go to is doing. They banned tobacco usage on the campus, but allow e cigs in it's place. I think I have seen some E-Cig advertisements at times.
my cvs replaced the behind-the-counter-shelf with nicotine patches, a sign that hilariously says "stop smoking aids" and condoms
but they still sell alcohol hmmm
but they still sell alcohol hmmm
[del]honestly, alcohol isn't as bad as cigarettes[/del] nvm I'm a silly yeah
though, it can be more destructive to people around you. [del]but it can also be a pretty good thing.[/del]

Whoever told you that has severely mislead you my friend.

Alcohol withdrawal can literally kill you, while nicotine withdrawal just makes you pissy.

I've seen what it did with Tyson, and REALLY FUCKED him up bad (thankfully he's doing better)
I wasn't thinking about withdrawel, more 'during use'. Moderate use of alcohols probably way better than smokes. Heavy use of alcohol though just destroys everyone around you emotionally.
Alcohol is fun until you get real dumb with it.
I guess people will have to feed their addiction else where.

I work at Walgreen's so now I feel guilty.
