They hate being called DAESH and threatened people who would call them DAESH, so now we call them DAESH.
All is forgiven.

Because Emperor Scorpious says so.
And yes Scorpious i know why we call it that.
They were paid, there is absolutely NO way they'd release prisoners apart of Islamic tradition. Daesh has literally gone against any Islamic tradition they claim to hold dear their hearts and use it like an iron club to instill fear amongst their hostages. Otherwise we'd be getting a video of images of them being shot, burned or beheaded.

It would be nice if we could stop spreading this. It's not true. Daesh is the arabic acronym equivalent of ISIS/ISIL. It's a useful coincidence that it sounds like some other words which have a bad connotation in Arabic.
We call them Daesh in Arabic because it's easier to say than al dawla al islamiya fi al iraq w al sham just like ISIS is easier to say than Islamic Sate in Iraq and Syria.
The whole 'they don't like it when we call them that' may be true but that's not the reason we call them that. It's just an acronym...

The e is the best Latin representative of the Arabic letter 'Ain in the word daesh. 'Ain is a sound made by constricting the throat as air passes through it. You can read more about it here:http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Voiced_pharyngeal_fricative
Arabs wouldn't write daesh, they would write da3esh or da3sh (depending on dialect, can even be de3esh in Lebanese). The 'Ain in the word comes from the Arabic word for Iraq which is 3iraq.
This is all quite an interesting topic for me to be honest as I am both an Arab and an Assyrian.
