West Palm Beach, Florida (CNN)President-elect Donald Trump is turning his attention Thursday to crafting a "short" but impactful inaugural address designed not to overly burden the thousands of supporters expected to attend next month's ceremony. "He wants to write the inaugural himself," said presidential historian Douglas Brinkley, who met with Trump Wednesday to discuss, among other things, the upcoming speech on January 20th. Trump was expected to spend at least part of his day Thursday at his Mar-a-Lago resort in Palm Beach, Florida, working on the speech, according to officials. "He doesn't want it to be long," Brinkley said on CNN. "He would like it to be a shorter one. He doesn't want people standing out in the cold."
http://www.cnn.com/2016/12/29/politics/trump-writing-short-inauguration-speech/index.html
"It will be a great inaugural speech. It will be the best inaugural speech you've ever heard, it will be amazing to hear. Believe me it will be very good."
"They will be talking about uniting America, bringing American together. We are now in the post-politics, post-campaign season and that's the messaging around this inaugural," he told CNN on Tuesday. "I'm expecting a great address ... that talks to Americans about dreaming big, about making sure that we are a city on a hill one more time."
If there is one thing I can grantee Trump will fail in doing, it's uniting the American people. Many of his cabinet picks and his policies fundamentally divide the country not only politically but socially. It will be interesting to see whether this speech has any substance behind it.

I hope he fucks it up.
it won't be that cold, it's warmer in washington DC these days than it was in the 1840s you hear that trump? you aren't in danger of getting pneumonia and dying 30 days into office. you don't need to worry
If there is one thing I can grantee Trump will fail in doing, it's uniting the American people.
I could see most of the country uniting against him. Once he's in office, "Hillary is worse" won't be a viable excuse.
I hope he fucks it up.
I would be surprised if he didn't. I wouldn't be surprised, however, if it turns out that after saying this he goes and gets someone else to write it anyway hoping to get the credit.
I could see most of the country uniting against him. Once he's in office, "Hillary is worse" won't be a viable excuse.
Im giving two years until his popularity drops to like 40-25. No offense, but i see nothing positive thats going to come out of his presidency.

He probably isn't even writing it. He wont even have prompters on stage either. He is just going to spew bullshit when its time.
The smugness of any thread that involves Trump is predictable as always, I'm keen to hear the highlights of his speech to be honest.
one silver lining is teaching people not to elect demagogues with no political experience whatsoever
Thats the problem with people who elected Trump. I don't view them as "dumb" or "idiots", i view them more of just people who were misinformed. They kept saying he was "different" and was against the "system". Except the System that Trump is going against so far is the system that our Country's founding fathers put in to stop shitheads like this from getting power, and to stop corporations from taking over. Its the late 1800s all over again. He is putting in the "System" that people feared from the very beginning. BIG. CORPORATE. MONEY.
Let's be honest it will probably be gold meme material.
this is his big chance to appear presidential. hope he doesn't turn it into shitflinging
this is his big chance to appear presidential. hope he doesn't turn it into shitflinging
"Hello, Americans of every race and nationality! I, Donald Trump, will try my best to be the best president. You know how I will be the best, the greatest even? Because I am NOT Crooked Hillary! Now believe me, this is a good sign, because can you imagine what it would be if we let her win, even by a little? We wouldn't be here, able to make America great again!"
Chance is that he will plagiarize Abraham Lincoln speech.
this is his big chance to appear presidential. hope he doesn't turn it into shitflinging
I do.
Can't wait to watch this train wreck
I think his inauguration speech would be something like his victory speech when he had the lead in the voting election.
I bet he'll hire a professional ghost writer to do it, then claim he wrote it himself. Like he did with The Art of the Deal.
At the very least we know that it's bound to be entertaining.
I bet it'll be filled with a bunch of faux populist talk about how "the people" have finally taken back power from "the globalist elite" etc for his supporters and Fox News to gobble up while they completely ignore the very same elites taking reign of Trumps administration. It's going to be one big reality tv show and half this country will too stupid or partisan to notice.
I don't know why people seem to think that it will be a bad speech, when you listen to his victory speech.
Can't he just text-to-speech his twitters?

We aren't able to trust most of the things he says. Why would this be any different. He is more then likely hiring a person to do it for him and he will take all the credit.
I wonder if he starts it off softly, and then, after a while, goes in hard like at the Al Smith Dinner. It would be diamonds if he starts ripping into the media again. Then again, it is hard to expect what Trump will do in that speech.
