Shelby, of the United States District Court for the District of Utah, wrote in his opinion. “Accordingly, the court finds that these laws are unconstitutional.”
✔
Would/will the people who support be able to appeal this to a higher federal court? If so, I think that it won't do them any good since supreme court seems to rule against it. also
Nationally, nearly two in three Mormons in 2011 said society should discourage homosexuality, while only about one in three overall said so ...
Usually when two out of three are for something, you wouldn't need to point out that one in three are against something. Or so I thought.

Or so I thought.
For one, "two out of three are for" doesn't imply "one out of three are against". There's in-between measurements. Second of all, you're misinterpreting. There was a poll done of a sample of a population of Mormons, and a separate poll of a sample from the general population. The polls indicated that the Mormon group was more strongly opposed to homosexuality than the general population. It's just coincidence that the "I oppose homosexuality" from one group and the "I oppose homosexuality" from another happened to add to 100%
Thank you very much for that clarification.
Would/will the people who support be able to appeal this to a higher federal court? Until such a time as there is a new ruling (or injunction), the judgement remains active law. From what I've read on this, the Attorney General of Utah is seeking an emergency stay (an injunction to have the ruling set aside until a set time or judged by a higher court), but it appears that has been denied thus far. Anyway, will be interesting to see what happens. From the looks of it, gays can marry in Utah. Much lol to hugely conservative state.
As a Utahn, I'm quite honestly shocked and amazed. This is wonderful for our state.

I grew up in Utah, it's an overwhelmingly conservative state. I wonder how they're taking it/reporting it
As a utahn I find it utterly repulsive that these slack jawed faggots are getting their way in my beautiful state of Utah land of the holy and pure.
Mormons, more like Morons. Ok i'm spent.
The first same-sex weddings are already going ahead http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-25473600
I can't find if this was posted yet, but New Mexico also ruled a ban unconstitutional a couple days ago! if our country were truly separated from church and state, gay marriage wouldnt even be a question hey gubment, you know theres this nifty thing called the constitution you should try it sometime
Only 25% of them support legalization.
And? It's still wonderful for our state whether or not the majority support it. Many men and women can now marry the people they love. The majority's discomfort, if there's any, is easily outweighed by the amount of joy and institutional acceptance that many gay couples now have.
