Turkey's state-run news agency says 73 Syrian military officers — including seven generals and 20 colonels — have crossed the border with their families "seeking refuge" in Turkey. The Anadolu Agency said Friday that the group totaled 202 people. It said they arrived in the town of Reyhanli and were taken to a Turkish refugee camp that houses military officers who have defected from the Syrian army.
Well, I guess Israel is back in the game.....
They were never out?
How many generals does an army usually have? 7 in one go seems like it'd hurt a lot.
wait i thought turkey was having a ton of problems too
They were never out?
I remember the article posted here that said they 'overestimated how many officers would defect' and that was the reason they 'decided it wasn't worth it'
wait i thought turkey was having a ton of problems too
Not nearly on scope.

So much Syrian news right after the NSA controversy. Suspicious.
How many generals does an army usually have? 7 in one go seems like it'd hurt a lot.
They probably defected a long time ago. The Syrian Army doesn't control the North anymore.
So much Syrian news right after the NSA controversy. Suspicious.
Confirmation bias. The news coming out of Syria's been roughly at the same pace for a while now, you're just noticing it more.
How many generals does an army usually have? 7 in one go seems like it'd hurt a lot.
The United States military has a maximum of 660 general officers (Brigadier General/Rear Admiral or higher). Scaling by size of military, that means there are probably 150 or so in Syria.
They probably defected a long time ago.
Most likely, I don't see why so many would suddenly jump ship when the regime is doing so well.
