SpongeBob SquarePants is an American animated television series, created by marine biologist and animator Stephen Hillenburg. Much of the series centers on the exploits and adventures of the title character and his various friends in the underwater city "Bikini Bottom." The series' popularity has prompted the release of a media franchise, contributing to its position as Nickelodeon's highest rated show, the most distributed property of MTV Networks, and among Nicktoons' most-watched shows.[1]
The pilot episode of SpongeBob SquarePants first aired in the United States on Nickelodeon on May 1, 1999, following the Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards. The "official" series premiere followed on July 17, 1999, with the second episode, "Bubblestand/Ripped Pants." The show reached popularity shortly after the beginning of its second season and has remained popular since. A feature film of the series was released in theaters on November 19, 2004. The series is currently in its seventh season and celebrated its tenth anniversary on May 1, 2009. SpongeBob has recently been renewed for an eighth season which will, if not abruptly canceled, make it the longest running show, episode wise, in Nickelodeon's history, surpassing Rugrats upon the completion of the 26th episode that season. If Spongebob was to continue to 2013, it would also surpass the longest running show, time wise, in Nickelodeon's history.[/quote]

This one, and the Treehouse one are awesome.
comcast took away all of my channels so i can't watch sponge bob anymore :(
The show was good until the movie, then Spongebob got extremely gay and annoying, Patrick became completely impaired mentally, the animation got shitty, and Squidward became the punching bag of every episode.

I agree 100%, basically after the movie things went straight downhill with maybe a few exceptions
Because the original creator left after the movie.
Watched it a couple times with my siblings, and although it had it's moments, I just can't see why the show became such a sensation. Then again, I'm not eight. I miss the days of All That, KABLAM, Rocko...etc, but Spongebob did leave us with a little comedic gold (with a little censoring, that is).

My brother and I still watch this whenever it comes on. It's fun because it's so easy to see gay innuendo in like, every episode.
love this show
My head almost exploded when they sang Sweet Victory. Oh my fucking god that was awesome!
i used to watch this until nick made spongebob sorta gay.
spongebob owns
the shanghaied episode is the best
If the original creator leaves, the show is promptly fucked unless someone comes in and makes a miracle. Also, I used to watch this, was awesome.
This is like the longest running cartoon ever. Too bad the new episodes aren't as good as the old.
The new episodes suck compared to when it was at its height.
My favourite episode was the one with the secret box.
I liked the movie, except for the fact that they changed what Neptune looked like and I didn't like how Spongebob saved the day by playing an electric guitar.
Sponge bob is like a bad-drawn cartoon for retarted people, everyone who is up 10 years old watching it are potentional morons, nothing personal.

Says the guy who can't spell retarded and potential.
He's obviously a young boy who's trying to appear to be a man!
sort of like people who say Pixar movies are for children.

I normally don't like any sort of electronic music, but I love this song. :iiam:
Every adult I met who ever saw this show told me it sucks. To me, though, it was pretty rad :iia:
It blew my mind when I found out that
