Martin Pezlar and Ivan Buchta, the two game developers from Czech Bohemia Interactive arrested in Greece in september last year on suspicion of spying, has been released today after 128 days in captivity. Helpivanmartin.org writes that morning received notice that the two detained Czechs released against a bail of 5,000 euros each and are now free to go home to their families. Martin Pezlar and Ivan Buchta arrested during a holiday on the Greek island limos, found in Arma 3, and was alleged to have taken photos of a military establishment, which they both constantly denied. The case has attracted considerable attention and been up at government level and they have previously been denied bail
Http://www.helpivanmartin.org loading.se/news.php?pub_id=23068
This morning around 8:30AM the news reached us that Ivan and Martin are free on Bail. The bail-sum was set to 5000 Euro’s each. We’ll bring more details about the news as it happens.. Checkout the English transcripts of Czech media : www.novinky.cz : As a result of repeated dealings, today the Greek Prime Minister Antonis Samaras informed Czech PM Petr Nečas over the telephone that the two Czech arrested by Greek police because of supposed photography of military objects on the island of Lemnos have been released. Both can now return back to the Czech Republic. PM Petr Nečas expressed appreciation for the efforts of PM Antonis Samaras and thanked him,” said Petr Nečas’ spokesperson Michal Schuster on Tuesday. Both men aged 28 and 33 years, who work for a video game-producing company Bohemia Interactive faced up to 20 years in prison if they were convicted. The men supposedly rerecorded and photographed strategic military objects to be used in an upcoming military shooter. After Bohemia Interactive denied that its employees were in Greece and illegally obtained photos as part of their work, the Czech President Václav Klaus also sided with them when he sent a letter to his Greek counterpart Karlos Papoulias with a request for their release. Fucking finally! So glad to hear this!
this is great!
great news.
Damn... 128 days in custody. I hope they recover from any latent issues that such a long incarceration may bring!
That's very good to hear :)
Greek economy booms as it increases by 10,000 euros!
took way longer than it should have 'bout time
Wooo!
Finally! Now they just need to have the charges against them dropped and they can get back on with their lives.
Probably because they need the money.
I would be interested to hear the truth behind the pictures, the prison and that letter that was sent by them, when things were kicking off.
Finally! I was surprised when I saw the title. Greece should just have delete the photos and sent them back instead of imprisoning them.
I wonder what the conditions for the bail are, 5000$ each is not alot really. Or they realized how fucking dumb it was to keep 2 people for no reason in prison in the first place.
They only caved because literally everybody who knew anything about this rallied heavily against them. And thank god for that, Greece has clearly proven that they're morons in every way. The government, anyway.
I figure they're not very keen on taking reference photos again, even if this may have been a one-time incident.
lol good luck getting the 5k euros back
WOOOOOOHHHHOOOOOOO!!
Sweet! I hope they celebrate the holidays they missed with their friends and family.
Did they get their camaras back?
Shit this makes me really happy. So glad they're out. :)
now i can finally plan my attack when arma 3 comes out with the photos they took
I hope they put some easter egg making fun of the Greek government's incompetence in Arma 3, just to be the cherry on top of this whole fiasco.
Whelp they're going to be best friends forever after all that.
Victory at last.
niiiice

Greece should split up into culturally defined city states. Maybe then they'll have a time of prosperity again :v:
Are there any interviews or updates yet?
Great to hear it's over for them. Will this speed development time a bit?
