[release]SHANGHAI, CHINA (CNN) -- A massive 3D stereograph in Shanghai has been inscribed into the Guinness World Record Wednesday. The colossal 3D picture is created on the plaza by the Oriental Pearl TV Tower, the landmark and tourist attraction in Shanghai, as part of the activities to mark what is known as "Singles Day", which derives from the numerical form of the date November 11, (11.11), which reads "one, one, one. one" in Chinese, signifying singles. Upon its official appearance with the public, lots of residents are attracted by the behemoth painting and they vied with one another to take photos of it, experiencing the thrill atop of cloud-kissing skyscraper. According to the measurement by the National Center of Measurement and Testing for East China and as notarized by the Shanghai Oriental Notary Public Office, the giant 3D stereograph achieved a new Guinness World Record with an advantage of 100 square meters. "The size is 50 x 22.22, totaling 1,111 square meters, just coinciding with the date "11.11", the largest in record," said Liao Yin, engineer of National Center of Measurement and Testing for East China. According to the authors, the 1,111 square meter painting is made intentionally to cater to the date "2011-11-11" that is a rare in 100 years. The painting will provide a good place for singles to gather and leave their images. "There used to be some lamps, gardens and chairs on the plaza, but for the painting, we have moved them away. Moreover, a revolving restaurant is made to accommodate the special event on Nov 11," said Cai Qi, deputy-general manager of the Shanghai Oriental Broadcasting Tower Co., LTD. Those wankers standing right on it kinda ruin the effect. Still really damn cool though.
And then it rained.
i cannot perspective correctly now
That's pretty damn impressive, it looks like he had just the perfect spot to do it!
And yet this is more "deep and thought provoking". I fucking love chalk art, though. I remember the first time I ever saw it. Must have been in 6th grade or so.
Well, from a professional's standpoint (not me) it actually is a good photo, but I agree, how is that better than some of the chalk illusions you see?
I'll pay $6,000,000 for that sidewalk.
