For years The Pirate Bay has been a thorn in the side of the music industry, but things could be about to take a turn for the worse. Over the past days rumors of a new project titled “The Music Bay” have been circling, and now a Pirate Bay insider has just confirmed to TorrentFreak that the major record labels have good reason to be afraid, very afraid.
This is a rumored addition to the pirate bay that is set to rock the music industry. The domain name, themusicbay.org, was purchased a few years back, however has remained unused. With the only content on the site being found on the subdomain, fear.themusicbay.org, containing the message "comming soon". No further detail have been released about what the new service is going to be, what do you imagine The Pirate Bay team have planned for this new service?
I would imagine that it is going to be much easier to pirate music with The Music Bay. I haven't ever pirated music before,[sp]I'm serious[/sp] but my friends have told me that it can be a huge pain if you download a virus or something. Maybe something where all of the music is trustworthy and even more easily downloadable?
i think it's painfully obvious what's going to be
It's not like I browse tpb a lot, but I thought it already had a music section, why make this?
Finally. This should give a huge boost to the up and coming, indie scene.
Finally. This should give a huge boost to the up and coming, indie scene.
I'm looking forward to a look backwards in music rather than a look to the awful indie future
Finally. This should give a huge boost to the up and coming, indie scene.
Newgrounds Audio Portal.
I don't think you all really understand the repurcussions of the drop in music sales over the past year.
I don't usually download music that I like, I buy it to support the artists.
I don't usually download music that I like, I buy it to support the artists.
So, you download music you don't like?
So, you download music you don't like?
Sometimes. For videos or whatever else I might need them for. Not often though.
justinbeibersong.exe
I'd love to install all of justin beiber's music at once!
I just convert youtube videos to mp3's for my music...
I just convert youtube videos to mp3's for my music...
thats the method that takes the most effort i dont see the point
I just convert youtube videos to mp3's for my music...
What a pain in the ass...
I'm guessing this is going to be a new venue hosted by TPB for indie artists to release albums via torrent. Just a hunch. Not expecting a torrent site dedicated specifically to the illegal download of music. That'd just be insane, right?
I just convert youtube videos to mp3's for my music...
Yeah this is good for those people whose ears can't function correctly and are ok with shit quality music
I remember the days downloading music with kazaa with 56k internet!
I just convert youtube videos to mp3's for my music...
A: it's hard to find music on youtube that's not raped in quality and isn't mono B: you'd first have to download it, THEN convert it. Basically you're just complicating things for yourself, AND getting music with bad sound quality at the same time.

No. You can still get some quality stuff. Trust me, I've studied sound technology for two years now. B) No. There are websites which allow you to simply enter the url, click "convert to MP3", and after a brief wait download it.
If you actually studied sound technology then you would know that you're wrong about good quality from WEB CONVERSION and using mp3s in general.
Those were two separate points. Never did I suggest that the quality won't differ when converting over the web.
My mp3 point still stands even if you don't use web conversion, and youtube to my knowledge doesn't do uncompressed audio (which you'd be butchering anyway with mp3).
Here's some music ripped straight from official music videos using JDownloader This is worse than the shit thats on Limewire/Frostwire
