Square Enix revised its financial outlook for the past year, downgrading its expected profits for the year by 92 percent, and that wasn't the only bad news. Deus Ex: Human Revolution has been delayed.
The game was expected to come out in March of this year, but now it could hit store shelves as far away as spring 2012. Square Enix said the delay was being done to add further polish to the game.

Square Enix has decided to delay the release of Deus Ex: Human Revolution, the ambitious cyberpunk shooter in development at Eidos Montréal. Originally scheduled for the first quarter of 2011, the Deus Ex launch has been pushed into the Japanese publisher's next fiscal year, which runs from April 1, 2011 through March 31, 2012. According to a corporate announcement, the delay will allow Eidos more time to "further polish" the project.
The demand for greater quality isn't unprompted, as the news came alongside a revision to the company's consolidated results forecast for the fiscal year ending March 31, 2011. Forecast net sales were lowered from 160 billion yen to 130 billion, and operating income is expected to drop from 20 billion yen to 8 billion. Square Enix blamed weak sales performance from console games and "harsh market feedback" regarding a key title.
The title in question may be the lambasted MMO Final Fantasy XIV, which triggered a dramatic reorganization in development staff and an indefinite delay for the PlayStation 3 version.
Well shit. I was really looking forward to it, good thing I didn't pre-order it yet.
Are you fucking shitting me?
Don't get me wrong, it's probably a good thing that they could polish it up a bit so it doesn't turn into another I.W. But 2012, seriously? I was going to preorder it this xmas as well.
Noooooooooooo!
ahahaha fuck off square enix
They're waiting till we have quantum computers.
Fuck, imagine a quantum computer! You could run crysis on medium and all that revolutionary shit.
...are you fucking shitting me?
A whole god damn year more?
When was it meant to come out?
dang it was looking forward to playing it
When was it meant to come out?
read the op maybe?
Crap. At least we have Duke Nukem forever.
Is this some sort of sick joke? I was hoping to get it early 2011, now it's delayed by a fucking year?
Title is misleading. It's unlikely that they're going to take a whole year just to polish the game. I expect we'll see an August/September/October release.
Complaining about game delays is so 2003.
Not even Valve is as hardcore as that.
Reminds me of when they delayed GTA IV by like 1 year 3 weeks before release.

They want it more polished to have a better game experience.
I bet the testers for the game are rather sick of playing it.
Is it talking about fiscal or calendar year though
Goddamn japs. I knew there was a reason we hated them so much in the past
fiscal year, hope it's to polish the game not just a when will this make us the most money reason
still more time should mean a better game
Dragon Age 2 is now a possible purchase if this is no longer in March so well done Square Enix you have moved my disposable income to another publisher
What a shame.
Well as long as the game gets more polished and awesome... I'm okay with this.
It seems like this is the new "in" thing for video game developers. Announce a somewhat soon release date, and a month or so later, "Ooohhh no, yeah, we're sorry. We're gonna push this back about a year." It happened to brink, it'll happen to Uncharted 3, and it'll probably happen to ES V: Skyrim, along with any other games that are supposed to be released soon.
Can't say I'm too disapppointed, with all the other great titles coming out in the next year.
couldn't they have delayed it before announcing a release date
What the FUCK
I was totally GOING TO GET THIS
Damn it, now we'll only have 9 months to play it after it's released.
Good news though: It could potentially be delayed as little as a day.
FUCK
And I just pre-ordered the collectors edition!
Hope the delay will be no more than a month.
If they delayed this to change certain features I will flip the fuck out.
Square Enix time.
