• Dead or Alive: Dimensions Pulled From Sweden, Norway and Denmark due to Child Porn Laws
A possible violation of Swedish child pornography law means Nintendo 3DS game Dead or Alive: Dimensions won't release there, or Norway, or Denmark. Distributor Bergsala capitulated without a fight and pulled the title, not wanting to stoke the national fire that raged recently when a manga translator was charged with being in possession of child pornography. "Nintendo of Europe have decided not to release the game in Sweden, for various reasons. However, they do not want to list any details regarding their decision," said Nintendo and Bergsala in a joint statement to Eurogamer Sweden. "We are sorry for how this impacts the Swedish fans of Dead or Alive. Thankfully, it's extremely unusual that these things happen." The case stems from a forum poster who noticed that three Dead or Alive: Dimensions characters - Kasumi, Koroke and Ayane - violated Swedish law by being under 18 and in a pornographic situation. The pornographic situation in this case being the Figure Mode, where the posing girls can be photographed from every angle. The author of the report had no intention of outlawing the game. The aim instead was to highlight why the child pornography law should be changed. The author took his report evidence to the police who dismissed it as "lacking" in evidence. Underage girls in thongs, the police concluded, do not equate to porn. Oh yeah is this game released in Australia and Germany?
if they are talking about small tits women then they are mistaken. DOA are notorious for women with oversize Boobs or was it soul caliber
Wait, are there young children in DOA games? I don't recall seeing or hearing about them if they are talking about small tit women then they are mistaken
no they're talking about the huge titty ones. [editline]22nd May 2011[/editline] doa is a joke fighting game anyways
It should be banned in australia, as this is childporn: o | /|\ boy:12 look at his penis!!! (it's the | )!!
But why ban a game like this? The 3DS isn't going to make the women pop out like that
But why ban a game like this? The 3DS isn't going to make the women pop out like that
They're sensitive fucks. They arrested a guy for having shota porn on his computer.
if they are talking about small tits women then they are mistaken. DOA are notorious for women with oversize Boobs or was it soul caliber
DOA is known for its ridiculous jiggle bones.
They're sensitive fucks. They arrested a guy for having shota porn on his computer.
We are not really sensitive, it was pretty much a massive thread on a swedish forum about it and they wanted to notify the authorities about the game, due to the manga translate crap and so shitty the laws are. I guess most manga freaks here also get a healthy dose of lolicon and crap like that. Shouldn't be illegal though.
A Dead or Alive game with small tits? That's news to me.
Impossible.
This is fucking hilarious. A member on a forum I use to visit said that he would report the game. And that was in April this year. Seems that he succeeded. His point was to show the strange child pornography laws that Sweden has, which managed to jail a Swedish manga translator. Edit: The thread https://www.flashback.org/t1525412
How old are those three characters, exactly? I haven't decided just how retarded this is, yet.
How old are those three characters, exactly? I haven't decided just how retarded this is, yet.
Knowing Japanese tradition, 14.
Kasumi is 17, that I know.
Oh yeah is this game released in Australia and Germany?
Lol Germany only censors Blood and Nazi stuff which that game has none of.
This law is as silly as the claim DOA is a serious fighting game
I really don't know anyone that really plays Dead or Alive, or anyone that would want to play that fighting game with friends.
Just another prime example of how stupid this country is.
Doesn't Sweden have one of the lowest ages of consent aswell?
Yeah, Despite the fact that all the women of DOA are well endowed and sexualized to hell and back, several of the characters are actually under 18. (Although, if I remember correctly, in the American versions of the games, they simply change it to 18 to dodge that.) I don't know if I'm getting this right, but in Japan, the legal age of consent is 13 there, which is why they're able to get away with ultimate-jailbait-kasumi over there. Can't they simply change the bio in the Swedish version like the did in the American version?
I'm surprised they're still underage... I mean, Kasumi was 17 in the first game too! And it's a couple of years old now!
Is MGS: Peace Walker banned there as well? It has a photography section in the game where you take pictures of a posing middleschool-looking girl, and you can unlock her underwear attire for that too.
The thread https://www.flashback.org/t1525412
Um Sweden ladies and gentlemen
Read the article please, people: the game hasn't been banned. It just won't be released due to concerns about potential lawsuits. And I agree the law is fucked up. [editline]22nd May 2011[/editline]
Doesn't Sweden have one of the lowest ages of consent aswell?
15

Japan really has a messed up desire to have all characters to be 8 - 14 even when it makes no sense. Is it actually a marketing decision done afterwards in order to garner as large an audience as possible?
15? At least that's what I was told way back in Sex Ed.
15 it is, I confused it with the minimum age to be tried as an adult or something like that.
