He is due to board a military plane in the UK, which will take him back to his home country, in the early hours. His deportation was approved after the UK and Jordan signed a treaty agreeing that evidence obtained through torture would not be used against him. The legal battle to deport Abu Qatada has lasted almost 10 years and has cost the UK more than £1.7m ($2.5m).
Took bloody long enough
After the cost of the legal battle, I have nothing else to say than Good riddance.
He looks happy.

I really want to make a parody of "Hakuna Matada" with his name, but I just can't figure it out. ♫He's Abu Qatada, what a wonderful name♫ ♫He's Abu Qatada, deported, for shaaaaame♫ I don't even know. It's a good thing he was deported, from what I'm reading in the article, he was a bit of a massive a-hole. The courts in Jordan don't seem to be the best, wanting to release him on bail after being charged with terrorist acts.

Such a smug fucking bastard. The majority of the pictures of him in the mainstream press are of him flaunting his political immunity in the name of 'human rights'.
His deportation was approved after the UK and Jordan signed a treaty agreeing that evidence obtained through torture would not be used against him.
Wait so the Jordianians admit they're going to torture him? If that's the case the British are just as bad for giving him up. I don't care if he killed a million people, torture makes us just as bad as he is.
Where are you going to deport him to? The sea?
deport him six feet under.
The attitude that the government is taking is that "if they can't use evidence from torture in court why would they bother torturing him"
Because some places just like to torture for fun? The Americans haven't received an ounce of credible Intel from Guantanamo inmates, yet torture them all the time.

But now they can't Regardless, once this treaty was ratified Abu Qatada agreed to be extradited and ended his legal challenge
