The tears of sadness

The end of an era
Thought it didn't make much sense changing the voice actor within a series until I remembered it's a prequel. Maybe Conroy just can't do young Batman as well as another actor can, and doesn't want to do it just for the sake of doing it?

That's kind of a big deal.
Hopefully they'll get someone who at least sounds a good bit like Kevin Conroy.
No Mark and no Kevin. It just won't be the same.

The guy who voiced Batman in Year One sounded nothing like Conroy yet it fit Batman well enough. At least it won't suck if anything.
Kill me or something, but I don't really care.
It's not like batman as a character is really defined by his voice actor the way, say, snake is in the MGS series.
Nothing really against Conroy's batman, I just don't see it being a big issue that he's no longer the voice. Well, I did think that he made batman sound too nonchalant about everything, but then again Batman is technically an aspie pyschopath and has multiple personality disorder as well as a thing for little boys but that's just getting bogged in the details.
Sounds fair enough to me, it's not like Splinter Cell Blacklist where Fisher has got older yet they're using a young voice actor.

funny thing is origins will take place when batmans younger, so hopefully we'll get a voice actor that'll make batman sound a little more young.

I dont even care about Snake's voice, nor do I easily recognize it. But Conroy Batman is Batman's voice
first Snake, then Garrett and now Batman?
they're all only stealth(ish) games. coincidence?
They should get Adam West to do it.
Why is everyone assuming he is retiring the role? When WB released Under The Red Mask on DVD ages ago they didn't use Mark Hamell, yet he did other stuff after that. Let's not jump to conculsions people.

Besides, it's more likely that Conroy will be busy recording for the sequel that Rocksteady actually IS making (according to the recent GI article, the reason Arkham Origins is being made by a different studio is to give Rocksteady the time they need to make the real sequel instead of rushing things.)
Shame this is a prequel, Peter Weller did a great old batman.
his voice irritated me so much in the arkham games. it's so out of place. it worked for the cartoons but when you try to force it into a semi-realistic interpretation of the universe it comes off as naive. I'm happy about this.

I would fucking love a Dark Knight Returns game. [sp]Superman[/sp] as the final boss would be so cool.

Kevin Conroy is truly amazing.
The fact that they're adding multiplayer scared me enough, now this.
Not having high hopes.

For people who grew up with Batman: The Animated Series and Justice League, half of Batman's character comes from Kevin Conroy's voice. Hell, when I read anything relating to Batman, I still read all of Batman's dialogue in Kevin Conroy's voice. So Batman IS literally defined by his voice to a lot of people.
It just won't be Batman without Kevin Conroy.
I'm very cautious that this game will suck. New developer, new voice cast, added multiplayer, we haven't seen any footage and the game is meant to come out at the end of the year.

Don't forget Sam Fisher. And Agent 47's VA was dropped and then brought back for Absolution.

I forgot how early this is supposed to be released. It's one thing for a development team to screw up its own series. It'll royal piss me off if one of my favorite game series gets screwed up after being handed off to another team.

At this rate, I wouldn't be surprised if we got a report on the development team being in complete chaos like Thief's studio is apparently in. I don't want to see this game turn out bad, I love the Arkham games as much as anyone here does, but things are not looking good at all for Origins.
WHAT.
You're shitting me?

He better be doing the voice in the Arkham City sequel, at the least.

Exactly. When I read the Batman comics I imagine his voice. When I read and the joker shows up I imagine Hamill's voice. They are the best.
Hope the new VA is at least good. But from the look of things, this game isn't looking so well.

[sp]Spoilers: Snakes' VA isnt actually changing.[/sp]

How?
By that logic most of the voices should be.
