Because they think some of the people there will care/like it, and it actually works, it just works both ways. When they spam it on forums it creates attention for the show (mostly bad attention), though it gets some people to watch it who will like it, and then it pisses off a shit ton of other people. And actually most of them (us?) don't post MLP shit where it doesn't belong, the vocal minority bro.

I tried to get into homestuck once, it sucked, don't see the appeal of it. If others like it then go ahead and do it. But I don't really see their fans as rapid and they usually stay within their lines. Rather then ponies when they had a outbreak causing things like this to happen:
