The term "a shot to the eye" is taking on a new and more dangerous meaning among young people.
The shots they're taking aren't punches, but alcohol. And doctors say their search for "fun" could cost them their vision.

"That sounds like the most idiotic thing I've ever heard in my life," said Alex Fast of the East Village.
"Why would you do that? Honestly?" added Amanda MacLeod, a student at Rutgers University.
What she calls a dangerously dumb stunt can be seen in more than 800 videos on YouTube.
"Could be shock value, too. Sounds kind of silly to me," said Eric Shanley of the East Village.
The people who do this, mostly college students judging by the videos, call it "vodka eyeballing." They said the pain gives way to an instant high and then a deeper state of drunkenness.
"I know people who would do that," said Zach Darr of Weehawken. "They're young and stupid."
Some who have tried it report an instantly deeper state of drunkenness, but at a potentially horrific cost. Doctors say anyone who tries this is turning a blind eye to many dangers. It can scar the cornea, and worse.
"It's like using paint stripper on the surface of your eye," said Dr. Richard Rosen of the New York Eye and Ear Infirmary.
Rosen said the young people in the videos are playing Russian roulette with their eyesight.
"You can get an infection from an area where you've lost that surface which could permanently destroy your vision," Dr. Rosen said.
The doctor said anyone who would try something this painful and permanently harmful gives new meaning to the old phrase "stupid drunk."
The doctor also said another danger of vodka eyeballing is excessive, constant watering of the eyes, which can be permanent.[/quote]
