Machiavellian political intrigue and nature’s fury marked 2010. The year began with the devastating Haiti quake and was stained by the Gulf of Mexico oil spill. A sitting Australian prime minister was deposed and our first female leader barely retained power.
But humanity's better side shone through. An epic rescue returned 33 trapped Chilean miners to their loved ones. Aussie athletes struck gold at the Winter and Commonwealth Games, and Spain won the World Cup.
This gallery will take you on a guided tour of the year's highlights — just push the play button. Or you can explore the image wall yourself by clicking to zoom in and shift clicking to zoom out.
You'll need to install Silverlight if you don't have it already. It takes just a few seconds, it's a safe Microsoft product and we guarantee that it will be worth the effort
I just can't be arsed to install a browser plugin so I can look at a slideshow of pictures.
Isn't Silverlight like a developers SDK?
Was a pretty disappointing start to the decade.
Was a pretty disappointing start to the decade.
Oh we're just getting started.
Was a pretty disappointing end to the decade.
Fix'd, learn to decade (hint: this is the last year of the current decade).
While the end was shite-ish, there have been good things, like Halo, Mass Effect and other games in the beginning, and all the scientific breakthrough[-ish] stuff this year.
Can't wait to see what the next one will bring.

By that logic 2000 was part of the 1990s
2000 was the last year in 1991-2000 decade.
It's actually cool to note how much awesome and horrible shit has happened during this year. Cool research and inventions, horrible catastrophes, accidents, Wikileads going all out and getting surpressed like a motherfucker, Best Korea being actually more batshit insane than usual, Finland elected as the best country in the world, CERN being active and doing good, Massive Oil spill, and so on...
An interesting year nonetheless
Meh, don't want to argue about this, there are two decade systems, 1991-2000 and 1990-1999, first one is the correct one, second one is the commonly used. Let's just drop it, okay?
Nevermind - There are two ways of viewing it which i'd say both are sort-of correct in their own ways.
i.e 1960s = 1960 - 1969
The decade itself = 61-70
"A year to remember"
They say that every year.

If you forgot every year, how would you learn from your mistakes?

Maybe the year 2000, 2001, and 2005 nothing else if I recall correctly.
This really was a year to remember..
Decades.

I disagree. It hasn't exactly been a good start, but it has been an eventful start.
2000 was the last year in 1991-2000 decade.
how does 11 mark the start rather than the end exactly?
Meh, don't want to argue about this, there are two decade systems, 1991-2000 and 1990-1999, first one is the correct one, second one is the commonly used. Let's just drop it, okay?
No because you are wrong. We use a base 10 system of math, and it isn't 1-10 is it, it's 0-9. I would understand if you just said you use the 1-0 system, but you don't have to be an arrogant dick over when the decade starts.

The commonly used one would be the correct one then huh
Though I have noticed that decades aren't actually deca long, and no "system" fixes that
This decade is gonna be really fucked up.
2000 was the last year in 1991-2000 decade.
Decimal system. Starts at 0, ends at 9, repeats.
The fact that there was no year 0 is irrelevant. 0-9's in the decimal system, not 1-10.
Not like it really matters anyway.
I'd give bad reading, but there isn't one anymore.
Can't wait for further results from LHC, shit's gonna be real. Also that shit before Big Bang... :ohdear:

How is Australia winning the gold and Spain winning the World Cup humanities better side?
Shit if that's all we've got this has been a really bad year.
I cant wait for Jibjab's Video this year, I wonder what its gonna have in it.
I've remembered this year already

I want to see Charlie Brooker's review of the year.
It was a shitty year. Just like the one before that, and the one before that.
Great video game year everything else kinda of shity.
The year 1918 is a year to remember.
