sell the car if you have neither insurance nor a license. should give you some dosh with which you might find another place to stay. how'd you loose your license anyway?
Sell the car, migrate to Norway.
As the above has suggested, sell the car. But don't lose hope man. I've been there too, things will get better. Buy really cheap stuff.
Buy really cheap stuff.
This is a good place to start.
Selling a car doesn't happen overnight. My brother had his truck up for sale on a major road for 6 months before even one person called interested in it. It'll help in the long run, but he's not going to make money off of it tomorrow.

I live in Portland myself and before I had my license getting a job was a massive pain.
Let him live with you
I'm not even living on my own right now myself.
Help him, maybe you could drive him to work until he gets his life back on track
If I still had my car I'd actually consider it. But unfortunately I'm talking from experience here.

With interest it's built up to like $850 or some shit, that number being retarded I haven't really being paying attention to it.
Can you apply for unemployment?
Can you apply for unemployment?
Does it matter that I have been unemployed for a while?
Does it matter that I have been unemployed for a while?
I don't believe so, but you ought to try anyway.
Does it matter that I have been unemployed for a while?
It does partly depend on how long you've been unemployed but at one point I stopped collecting unemployment for six months and then started claiming again without any issues.
The only advice i can give is make more friends, When i was homeless for awhile, I had some friends that let me stay with them on the weekends, Also i didn't have any money, What i did have i spent on weed, < But i only did that because i knew i'd have a home again soon. When i was outside at night i had to avoid cops because of the area, Also i found a nice spot in the woods to stay when i wasn't staying with friends (which can be dangerous), Rain sucked. Someone stole my ipod, Getting food was hard but not impossible, But people in my area wont give homeless money just food (sometimes). I Hope my experience helps alittle bit, Oh also stay possitive And motivated! :)
I was going to suggest finding a piece of shit hatchback or wagon and a second-hand mattress or one at someone has dumped on the street until I read you have had your licence revoked. Are there any homeless shelters in your area?
Don't feel as if you're putting pressure on friends/family if you ask to stay. You're NOT overstaying your welcome, people are sympathetic.

Maybe you should check the Punk Houses in the local area.
I was going to suggest applying to work with Uber as a driver (assuming you meet the requirements). But it seems they don't operate in Portland due to legal issues. I don't know much about US geography and transport (and also if you want to move), but if you could get to Seattle and apply there Uber is really good if you don't have a home because you can work whenever you want at any time of the day and you meet tonnes of people who can help you out. I know someone who's on again off again homeless and his job with Uber is a life saver for him. He's also gotten two meetings with people working for Google and Apple about his business that he's starting up from just driving the people around like a taxi.

It seems to me that you have made really poor decisions in life and are paying the price.... next time make smarter choices

(And even then it would be kinda irrelevant, everyone makes mistakes.) You're off to a great start there. Then your other post is flat out calling someone dumb with no actual argument. I'm willing to bet either gimmick or troll alt.
If you've got nothing left in Portland I suggest moving with your friend. Get a job that pays for your food and clothes and figure something out. I really think America should have a better unemployment system that doesn't leave you hanging like that. Also, your family sound like douchebags to me.
Some jobs such as working at a hotel give you included meals and a room of yours. They usually advertise their jobs as such.
We have homeless shelters, food stamps and whatnot, but granted it is far from perfect.
Very far from perfect actually. Our Unemployment benefits works pretty half assed, lets hope your past job paid well, because you're going to get 49-50% of what you made before. if you are on any social security benefits, disability, ouch there goes your UI. What about government assisted living (Sec8). Well, unless you're already enrolled in our fantastic welfare system, got a kid and considered a minority (Yes, we're that racist) fucking forget about it. Half-way homes are a good way to start, but go pick up a dirty drug habit like shooting up heroin. Then go get arrested and then be put into a half-way home. There is also government placed living, but then the state will reallocate you to some of the worst areas in the state. Here in Illinois, they won't even put you into chicago first. Chicago is the ritz carlton compared to the other locations they have in mind for you. They'll more than likely put you in Springfield or Rockford. Both with a higher crime per 100k than Chicago, by far. Food stamps? Here I know a single claim for them is about $150 a month. This does not include soap, garbage bags, or anything else thats beneficial. Just food, and food only. Don't get fancy with that food either, remember you got less than $40 a week to spend on it. I know we got homeless shelters, but a lot of them are secular and usually overbooked. You normally can get into 1 a year for about 2-3 months. Lets hope your bout in the streets lasts less than that. I wish you the best of luck, our welfare system is horribly broken, and a UI will not get you to pay for your rent, and food stamp/EBT isn't going to help you very much (Just keep you on the brink of starvation). I have my license revoked too, and I'll tell you its very difficult getting around these days. public transportation is poor at best out here, and we have to endure very tough winters. But good luck, I hope things get better for you.
Have you posted in /r/Portland? Once you get into these smaller reddits people are more likely to help.
I am assuming you have already graduated college and have taken the maximum amount of student debt? If not, look up your local community college and fill out a FAFSA, the government will send you a check when the semester starts. Some of the grant money you won't even have to pay back.
