Hm... They added/showed quite a lot of characters since the last time I saw this game (which very early on). How do you know who's an enemy except for hud elements?
What's the difference between the Origins at $60 at normal at $30?
What's the difference between the Origins at $60 at normal at $30?
Origins comes with 5 skins (Bastion, Soldier 76, Reaper, Pharah, and Tracer) an Overwatch pack design for Hearthstone cards, a baby Winston pet for WoW, 6 avatars or whatever they're called for Starcraft 2, and Tracer as a hero in Heroes of the Storm. All pre-orders also receive the Noire Widowmaker skin.
i haven't been keeping up but ferk yeh i love fucking cowboys and robot ninja's even though they're so over done
The thing that bothered me ever since the first gameplay footage is how imbalanced it looks. Like every hero has a direct advantage over the previous one, i mean sure being good is also a factor but still. If they manage to really balance it out good this might just be loads of fun

It's pretty clear if you watch streams and/or gameplays for a while
Roadhog looks SWEEEET
I really liked the character designs, I also found it cool that they managed to get quite a female cast, but one thing. Pudge. Seriously? Did they just shoehorn fucking PUDGE into this game? Why?!

I'm hoping they add in alt color styles and slight cosmetic changes in the base game. I think it'd be nice to have the option to not have pink for the mech girl and the railgun girl.

Apparently are unlocked by leveling up the heroes XP(its like Dota 2s profile XP, means fuck all at all) except its per hero, and unlocks specifics for said hero. I know recolors are 100% so rest easy. I think if anyone deserves to ever make pudge clones, its Blizzard. They lost Dota, at least give them pudge.

The bright red name or the fact that there's no name (your teammates will always have their name above their head). Also the red outline. It's really fucking easy to tell who is friend and who is foe.
Bastion is best character for me already

I think they just wanted to really differentiate their game from the bullet spongeyness of tf2.
Pretty much every character has either very fast or instant kill potential. Well with a good team the games about team work and effective flanking and strategic decisions at some level. From what I can tell, if the teams are balanced well roster wise and everyones playing equally or so, it's really about strategy and team work. The character diversity to me is one of the selling points, but I can see how it might be a difficult game to balance down the road, but I'm curious to see how it plays out. Very few characters actually seem "Tanky", most of them look like for the most part, they die almost instantly if they're not in position or supported by a dedicated support character. Even the support characters seem squishy. I think one valid complaint might actually be the lack of tanks, as they're seem to be not enough of them.
Pretty much every character has either very fast or instant kill potential. I think they just wanted to really differentiate their game from the bullet spongeyness of tf2.
but tf2 isn't the only bullet spongey class based game the reason i like spongeyness over instant kills is because (most of the time) it gives you a chance to retaliate and perhaps turn the table around. though i'm sure they seem insta kill because the players dying start off with around 10% hp or 50% and below. the trailers obviously scripted which is why i'd rather have a regular trailer of people playing the game normally instead. this seems to be more or less a explanation of the classes if anything. that price tag is also a turn off
Yeah I'm not really a fan of being shot 3-4 times and dieing, especially if I'm big and slow.
They just had to get the most generic character for the statute
Yeah honestly, grabbing the most generic and boring character out of the entire game and make a statue to go with an expensive CE is just a horrid decision.
Looks a little too animated and noisy.. Something about the visuals just annoys me really. It all gives me a Korean free-to-play vibe, even though I know it has Blizzard developing it. Will definitely have to wait for actual user-generated gameplay to come out before I can figure out if I care or not.
Roadhog looks SWEEEET
Dat run animation
It's actually balanced for the most part, characters seem pretty strong in the videos because it's meant to showcase them in a powerful way. You can see most of the enemies missing shots or just acting stupid in general.
It seems fun to me, a bit busy visually but that doesn't bother me that much.
The thing that bothered me ever since the first gameplay footage is how imbalanced it looks. Like every hero has a direct advantage over the previous one
isn't this the definition of balance though
isn't this the definition of balance though
balance is supposed to have both players on an equal playing field so that the only determining factor is skill. if X is clearly better than Y but Y is clearly better than Z, that's not really balanced because each class has a clear advantage over one another this is all 'technically' speaking however, I probably wouldn't have a problem with it if I played the game and saw it for myself in action
balance is supposed to have both players on an equal playing field so that the only determining factor is skill.
if there's no metagame to it, why even have multiple classes at all? if what you are describing is an absolute priority surely it would be much easier to just give everyone equal stats and weapons most class-based games have this thing where one class is a "counter" to the other, but no class is a jack of all trades if you get what I mean. This way choosing the right class based on what the opponent have is a bit of a skill in itself I guess it's just a matter of different approach
I'm a little disappointed by how many of Overwatch's characters are just a reference to a movie or game. I was hoping for a few more original designs because I like the ones that are. But so far we're at: -Not Lost Planet girl -Totally not Raiden -Not Clint Eastwood -Not Mitsurugi But if the supers don't play as OP as they look I'd be down for playing this. Looks fun.
