The lower part of a human leg has been found floating in False Creek under the Cambie Street Bridge, Vancouver police say.
Two fishermen returning from the Strait of Georgia called 911 after they found the section of leg and foot connected to a running shoe at about 3:30 p.m. PT, Sgt. Randy Fincham said.
Fincham said police and the B.C. Coroners Service were called in to investigate and after examination, the coroner determined that they were human remains.
There is no indication of an identity at this stage in the investigation, Fincham said.
Despite the unusual and grisly discovery, Fincham said police had no reason yet to suspect foul play.
At least 11 shoes containing bones have been found on beaches in southern B.C. since 2007. Several of the remains have been identified through DNA analysis, and many of the findings have been related to suicides.
There have also been at least two hoaxes in which meat or animal bones were put into shoes.

Want limbs floating about the country?
Come to Canada!
gona hurt tomorrow
haven't there been other cases of body parts floating in Vancouver?
They need to step up their game to find the rest of the body!
I drove over that bridge twice today. \o/
I was wondering where that went

I am pretty sure that feet wash up quite frequently.
Fuck I was in that exact spot a couple months ago
[sp]I thought I'd made sure nobody would ever find it[/sp]
What the hell is with Vancouver and floating extremities
"animal bones put into shoes"
fucking genius

Canada in general really, probably because we have so many lakes and rivers.
I remember reading something that said the feet/legs being found are from people committing suicide by jumping off some bridge near Vancouver.

Ah, that checks out. People are only hacking each other in to pieces and throwing each other into rivers purely because there's the space to do so.

Well doing that in the ocean would be silly, so none of that happens in Florida or California!

there's speculations that some of the feet are from people that were killed by the 2004 Indonesian earthquake/tsunami too
kinda weird how a lot of them would end up in Vancouver, if that's how they got there to begin with that is

Exactly, confirming the consequent!
No reason to suspect foul play?
It's a bloody LEG!
I doubt it just dropped off when somebody was going for a swim, or that some carpenter slipped whilst building a wharf and took out a limb
No, the reason there are so many people bits around here is cause people jump off the bridge, then bits of them break off an float to the surface or get washed to shore

:v: I love canned responses. There's a severed fucking leg in the water and there's no foul play suspected.

I thought those were related to the Indian Ocean quake/tsunami in 2004
Catch of the day?
Why is the tag "X-Box 360?"
So that's where it got to!
I've been looking for my leg for ages
Sounds like somebody got cold feet.

Yep. I think they were in the juan de fuca area though. Might have been up by Vancouver too.

Jump off bridge, legs just pop off

You can hit the water with enough force to pop something off. The Lions Gate Bridge is about 110 meters up in the air. I think that's about high enough to gather enough force to pop something off, but I forgot how to do physics.
I was wondering where that went
Better hop on over to get it.
So that's where I left that.
