erm... well like the first few posts said, yeah but..
I'll be hopeful. I have to be hopeful. Maybe it's just their intro song. Like the first track that is supposed to be much calmer than the rest.
Right? Please I hope so
They rushed this for the Inauguration, its obvious
But [sp]Spongebob at the end?[/sp]
Visually speaking, It could've been better. But god the music just gives me massive Think Tank/13 vibes to be frank.
Right. Also it really feels like Rockit to me.

Well I mean the last intro song was Welcome to the World of the Plastic Beach, so yes this is guaranteed not the headline song
Plus, Snoop and De La Soul were confirmed on the album so we have that to look forward to
I personally thought this was great
I liked it. Not everything needs to be instantly catchy or Feel Good Inc 2.0, that isn't what they're about.
Is there a download link for this? Watching Videos on mobile isn't so fun
Well. It's cool that they're still experimenting, and trying new things. This song in particular had a neat concept with vibes that remind me of gospel church music.
With that said I was looking forward to something that would be closer to their "roots" or their core instrumentation, but all we have here are Damons vocals.
Their singles tend to have a "wtf" thing going for them so I'm not too worried about the rest of this album. This song though doesn't have replay value for me.
That was all kinds of fucked up and quite an experience. The actor was pretty fantastic in it too.
It's not something I'd listen to, I think it's one of those songs you have to experience the music video with to fully get it.
I wonder if the rest of the album is going to be as politically charged as this. Not really a fan of Gorillaz, but the song was interesting.
Instrumentation-wise it's definitely a Gorillaz song, but the vocals feel pretty different from their usual stuff. I can dig it like a spigot, though, it's always been cool how Gorillaz can do all sorts of tones and moods through their music. Reminds me of Plastic Beach (which personally I like more than Demon Days, don't @ me) in the production and synths with a bit of Demon Days in the more choral parts. They've definitely still got it.
I've just been listening to it (b/c I'm at work) so I can't comment on the video but I'm sure it's good.
Also that pinging in the background kind of reminds me of "Say You Will", but that's probably just me being a Yeezy stan
imo the vocalist kind of ruins it. like his voice isn't bad or anything, it is just as if he is singing a different song from the instrumental and not in a good way.
It's clear that they released this because of the political connection, but I still liked it a lot. Grew on me quite a bit on second listen.
It's nothing spectacular but I bet that it would make a lot more sense in the context of the album, if it's even on the album.

Vibe-wise it feels like a "Welcome to the World of the Plastic Beach" or "Cloud of Unknowing", probably not a big-hitter but designed for a lower-key point in the album.
Or it could be a DoYaThing deal where it's not intended for an album (in this case, because of its political-statement nature).
An infinitely better single than Sweepstakes
Gorrilaz are known for experimenting, glad there keeping it up even if it didn't work out to well here.

sweepstakes is a great song fight me
It's not exactly what I was expecting but I still enjoyed it quite a bit after a few listens. I'm positive this is an intro/outro/interlude track and will probably be more enjoyable when listening to the full album.
[sp]Spongebob at the end?[/sp]
I agree this needs an explanation.

At least it's not Superfast Jellyfish
At least it's not Superfast Jellyfish
put some respeck on de la souls name
At least it's not Superfast Jellyfish
I love super fast jelly fish! My friends and I would sing it all the time in highschool. It's just a silly fun song.
It did take me a little bit get into Sweepstakes but once I figured it out I really began to enjoy it. The best thing about it really is the entire song is a build up for the last 20 seconds or so. It just steadily gets crazier and crazier, more and more mental as the song goes on.
I think sponge-bob at the end represents the comments section. lol

You wanna get cut?
'Cause this is how you get cut.
I love how much risk Damon is taking with this track, but I don't think this was intended to be a single.
Yo this isn't bad, it does have that "first song of the album" feel though but that shouldn't mean it's something to skip whenever the album is playing.
