The score is alright. The level design is kinda confusing sometimes and the structure gets repetitive after a while but it's still a good Metroid title. Here's hoping that it sells well enough so we get a complete new 2D Metroid title (on Switch) instead of one being limited to being a remake where you can't do things completely new or different.
Gotta agree with Dunkey on two things the most here. Fuck the Diggernaut and fuck chasing gamma Metroids around the map. Still totally love the game though.
Got about halfway through this game so far.. so far it's exactly the sort of Metroid game I've been waiting for. The new additions I was originally fairly weary about ( Aeion abilities, mostly pointing at Scan Pulse ) but honestly it hasn't been game breaking so far. Bit sad that's being released on a dying system. Unfortunately the level design issues stem from it being a Metroid 2 remake ; they couldn't really change the repetitive nature of it too much otherwise it'd start to stray too far from the source material.
And yes fuck chasing metroids around 3 / 4 different rooms to kill them, that's annoying, especially when the order of the rooms weren't linear.

The fact it's been released on the 3DS, might mean it's a test bed for future installments.
I would break into fort knox if I thought there was a modern remake/sequel to metroid fusion.
I want my goddamn Metroid Dread

If you 100% Samus Returns you get to see what Dread or Prime 4 is about

I gotta disagree with Diggernaut, Other than [sp]Ridley[/sp] I thought it was a fantastic fight that really tests the skills you've learned up to that point.
I'll have to agree with dunkey on this one. The game feels great, the mechanism is amazing, but there's not enough new content to keep it interesting for the first half of the game. They needed to made new bosses in-between to make it more interesting instead of just facing Metroid for the first 5 hours.

Diggernaut wasn't that bad when you face it again, but it was fucking ridiculous the first time you face him. It believe it was a fantastic boss that did make the game fresh in the last act of the game, fighting metroids after metroids does get tiring.

Not Prime 4, we already know (unless they decide to drop it) that the main antagonist they hinted on Prime 3 and Federation Force (ew) would be Sylux. [sp]The Secret 11th Chozo Memory, 2d/10, does indicate the possibility of Dread or Metroid 5 with the Chozo traitor as the antagonist, which sounds awesome.[/sp]

I mostly mean the return fight. I did like how it changed up the last act of the game, but overall it felt like huge reliance on precise control that the 3DS (at least the OG 3DS) just isn't good at. The amount of times I popped out of morph ball trying to spider ball up the crushers was infuriating. The amount of dexterity you need just to use the system in that fight (Especially phase 3, that was just cruel) is immense. I will admit, it was incredibly satisfying when I finally did bean it, far more so than the [sp]Metroid Queen[/sp] was.
But a lot of that fight wasn't obvious as to what to do, usually with boss fights in this game it's a method of die and repeat and work it out as you go along, but stuff like the [sp]bombs during the vacuum attack[/sp] took me far too long to work out, and I don't think that's of any fault of my own, I just think that part was just ridiculous.
I just think that fight could have been a bit more fair, and honestly I think the 3rd phase had a large spike on the difficulty curve coming from 1 and 2.
I dunno, just my 2c.
