Nissan will reconsider its investment in the UK if Britain leaves the European Union, chief executive Carlos Ghosn has told the BBC.
He was speaking in Sunderland, where Nissan employs 6,500 workers.
Prime Minister David Cameron has promised a public vote on EU membership in 2017 if the Conservatives win the next general election in 2015.
But Mr Ghosn also added that he considered the exit scenario to be unlikely.
"But Mr Ghosn also added that he considered the exit scenario to be unlikely."
Someone doesn't think the Tories will win in 2015.
They'd better fucking not.
Labour will probably win in 2015 if Ed Rubberband manages to look less like he's plastic than the opposition.
Nobody who knows a bit about economy and business thinks that UK leaving EU would benefit any of the parties involved. It's just that politicians love to use it as a scrapegoat and sway uniformed and/or nationalistic masses.
My dad works at the Sunderland plant, hope we don't fucking leave the EU

He'll take our money whether we're in Europe or not. You'd be a fool to think otherwise.
Why are we putting this up as a referendum? Your average middle aged fat bald man doesn't know enough about the EU to have any right to make decisions about it.
If we end up leaving, I'm leaving the goddamn country.
Why are we putting this up as a referendum? Your average middle aged fat bald man doesn't know enough about the EU to have any right to make decisions about it.
Because that way if we leave the government can just sit back and go "well you idiots wanted it you live with the consequences" while everything goes to shit.

Populism.
This is what's inherently wrong with democracy, god help us; direct democracy (ick) which public referendums get close to.
The general public is uninformed yet general public is meant to decide. It's obvious the decision is going to be uninformed as well.
Now, the political parties who promise the power to make decisions to the uninformed masses get support from them, as the uninformed masses aren't informed about their lack of information, and believe their decision would be the most informed one and support the polititians who promise the power to the uninformed public.

I'd rather not have Wallace and Gromit running the government.

I'd totally support Wallace and Gromit. Who else would lead us into a golden age where we mine the moon for a limitless supply of cheese?

Come to Brussels, we have Irish and English pubs so you'll feel right at home
Nissan like ramen noodles?
The UK isn't leaving the EU because Cameron isn't staying for another term. Most people hate politicians but Cameron has a special kind of hate.

If he even survives that long. If he carries on being the biggest piece of shit he's going to come across the wrong person eventually.
Why not have the UK leave the EU, and then strengthen the Commonwealth to still be "part of a larger force"? With Canada and Australia's natural resources and London as a commerce central, it could rival the EU if done right. Just a thought.

A total of 10 English politicians have ever been assassinated (12 included Scotland and Wales). I doubt Cameron's in any real danger.

Could it, though? Or are you just guesstimating?

The commonwealth countries are becoming more independent by the year and I doubt they're going to change course no matter what Britain says. Ain't gonna happen

With the inclusion of such powerful economies as Bangladesh and Pakistan, the Commonwealth could really become an economic powerhouse

+10 for Northern Ireland.

I wouldn't think the UK would try to resurrect the empire.

Since they don't recognize the Queen anymore, begone with them! On a serious note that would have negative repercussions, but so do PIIGS and some Eastern European nations in the EU, though to be honest I do not know how better or worse they are compared to the two nations you have mentioned.

Because that's a huge chunk of trade that'll get impacted, why would Germany buy stuff from the UK if they're suddenly paying more now that we're not in the EU so a trade tariff is added onto the price.
The thing that cracks me up is when the same politicians who want to leave the EU, also want Scotland to stay in the UK. Surely they realise there's a slight touch of hypocrisy there?

Someone doesn't have a degree in economics.

And part of the "No Campaign" scare platform is "If you leave you'll never get into the EU again!" (Thoroughly debunked, but they insist upon it)
But... you're trying to drag us out of it anyway?
When was the last time the UK had a Prime Minister that was generally liked?
