A tortoise was taken for an emergency visit to the vet after he got an electrical cable stuck under his shell.

The UK plug is a literal murder weapon.

This is not a sensational headline.
fucking ow
would rather have this over standing on one of these cunts
That tortoise is so mainstream, he's literally connected to mains.
Fuck off.
You could use it as a deadly weapon, it can quite easily be turned into a crudely fashioned chain-ball mace applied to someones skull.
Ever step on one of those? I'll rather step on a 1000 Lego's than one of those plugs again.

They're so big I don't see how it's possible.
But I don't envy anyone that has.

Safer than almost every other plug in the world, mind.

Yes, but it's pointy n stuff.

No more pointy than those you'd find elsewhere.
when he wanted to be plugged in, that's not really what he meant.

I mean there's nothing about that design that's any better than he rest of the worlds plugs it just has like a couple good safeties on it, over here you can also buy safe plugs and stuff and also you can get outlets with safety covers that open when plugs are inserted
I'm more curious as to how the plug even got there, just how does one get a tortoise entangled in the cable from a garden strimmer.

As the plug was being reeled in, it probably made contact with the tortoise as it was walking about and caused it to retract it's right limb, with the plug on it, into it's shell out of surprise; then, it probably tried to squeeze tighter because it couldn't rid itself of the plug and ended up getting it wedged in by accident.
How did this even happen

Keyword is almost.
Any modern Australian plug has all those safety features except the slots are even thinner AND the prongs always fall parallel to the floor instead of sticking up.

The point is though, that plug is the standard plug, you don't go and buy a special safety one.
uk plugs are great for stopping accidental disconnections (i used to have that problem) but being one of the few right angle plugs means that if they get left upside down and you should happen to stand on one barefoot the result is worse than a million legos

What's the matter you scared of 3 girthy prongs?

Typically happens in dark rooms owned by messy kids / teenagers. Parent walks in barefoot, steps on a plug. I've not done it personally, but by all accounts it hurts a lot.
EU plugs masterrace.

Imagine, the dirty europoors scramble out of their boats to raid our benefits but we're prepared. Miles and miles of plugs all along the coast, many succumb to the pain and decide that maybe 50 pounds a week isn't worth it. They then return to "bongo bongo" land.
That's the Britain I'm fighting for, that's the Britain that Big Nige will create.

I stepped on a US plug once. I posted it the last time that video was posted but the plug went and hit the bone on my heel. I'm squirming even just remembering.

Where the hell is the ground in two-pronged Australian plugs, though?
