• Castle Crashers Build

It's summer again and it's time to do a new build project! This time I'm gonna do something simpler compared to what I did last year (Tribes Ascend) Seeing how you read my thread title, I'm doing Castle Crashers. I decided to do it in a more detailed style instead of a simple cylinder design. I'm gonna be making more than one helmet design since I'm going to be doing a cosplay group thing later on during the summer. The one's missing in this is the pink and grey knight. So, this helmet has never been done as a papercraft so I asked ZombieDawgs to help me out with the 3D model. [t]http://i.imgur.com/ZiIBOef.jpg[/t] [t]http://i.imgur.com/MmH0PPl.jpg[/t] [t]http://i.imgur.com/yVzELJf.jpg[/t] And got a papercraft version of it! Yay. [t]http://i.imgur.com/nf4lDYh.png[/t] A tad messy but I could deal with it. Now onto actually doing it! Didn't take pictures of the fiberglass/resin process but it simply hardens the papercraft so I can apply bodyfiller (Bondo) over it without it falling apart. Also, I put 2 layers of fiberglass, making it pretty durable. Bondo time. Another angle. A lot of sanding and it's shaping out nicely. Heavy duty Fiberglass. Those eye outlines will come back later The middle isn't exactly straight... I'll come back to that later on :v: After a lot of sanding....it's pretty smoooooth. I forgot how much bondo I applied and did not expect cutting through it would be so deep. Will come back later to fix the eyes a bit. The jaw/chin of the faceplate is nearly gone due to sanding off the fiberglass from the edges so I'll have to add it back with more fiberglass and bondo. More progress will be shown later on!
Fuck yeah I love your builds.
What papercraft program do you use? Looks very familiar. Also, gosh your builds are gorgeous. You should definitely write up a guide or share some tips/other sources, I'd love to try and make this a hobby.
Grrr. Angry face. Now gotta let it cure for 24 hours...
What papercraft program do you use? Looks very familiar. As for learning how to do this stuff, check out 405th.com. They have a bunch of resources and tutorials to get you on the right path.
Update for today. Sanding off the gigantic brows Primed it to see how it looks so far. Still needs work.
this is fucking awesome
Ahh, Bringing back Nostalgia of 2008 all over again. Great Work!
Oh yeah! I wanted to make one before, just didn't have the right resources or mind for it :v: Good job until now and looking forward to the rest!
Nice quality crafting mate! Very nice, looking forward to seeing the end result of this.
damn nephew, this shizzle be poppin
Aw shucks, no Pink Knight?
Mini-update I've been busy with other things and pooling money to get other materials, but hopefully I should be posting bigger updates soonish! Today, I made the jaw/chin part a bit longer and more pointy. Also, did 'small' fixes here and there which ended up with me fine sanding everywhere. I'm waiting for molding materials to ship to my place so I can continue this. Once I get that, more fun begins with the other knights!
Aw shucks, no Pink Knight?
There will definitely be a Pink Knight  [editline]whatwhat[/editline] Here's some more. It's starting to look like something out of Army of Two. :v:
I was on Skype while Dawgs was getting the UVs sorted on that thing. He went silent with frustration haha. This build is epic though, I really wish I had the time and materials to get I to this shit..

Yeah I remember, you sat there admiring it for like a whole minute. You also left your mic on, took your headset to the bathroom and so I had the lovely sound of your piss hitting the toilet water blaring out my speakers..
That by itself would make a fantastic mask.
Really enjoyed checking this out, brings back a ton of good memories. The mask is looking bad ass so far, can't wait to see how it looks finished.
That's really cool!
Looks absolutely fantastic. Can't wait to see when it's finished!
You're very talented!
Sorry for the hiatus! Was working on the helmet this past week and forgot to update the thread. I received all of my supplies so I was able to start making molds! This is my first time doing this so it was pretty exciting! Getting all ready. This gets messy real quick. I do feel like I wasted a lot of this stuff :v: A couple layers of Mold Max Stroke annd tada! A mold cast along with it's mother mold (which was made out of fiberglass) First copies weighed a bit. Around 1lbs (0.45 kg) So I made sure the next copies weighed less to be light and comfortable. They weighed around 10 oz. or (0.6lbs/0.3kg) The mold copies still need to be cleaned up around the edges and surface too. Next update you'll probably see me attempt to make a prototype of the face attached to the helmet.
looking forward to seeing it finished
Progress Update. Getting the faceplate onto the helmet was pretty annoying.
Well here's the final update. Prototype's ears are attached Time to mass produce for my group! One of the special helmets, the Blacksmith (Purple) and the others... Me adjusting the eyes for the other special helmets, Pink and Grey knight As well as the Necromancer Applied the apoxy sculpt for their eyes and waiting for it to harden. Went ahead and cut out the outlines for Necromancer and fixing some areas. And the paint job for the rest of the helmets! Also some barbarian masks. Went to Otakon with the whole group as Castle Crashers. My friend took care of the clothes for the Castle Crashers, Wizard and Barbarians. We had a blast! Added bonus. Bob Ross and Castle Crashers! Well that's that. This was a fun build. It was probably the biggest one I did for a big group. Not sure if I'd go great lengths to do that again. Not sure what I want to do for next year's build. Any suggestions?
Fugging awesome! Great work, looks like you had a good time.
I hope I can make it next Year, dude.
