OS X El Capitan went through eight developer betas before the golden master version of the software was released on September 9. OS X El Capitan is still rolling out to users, but it can be downloaded using the Software Update function in the Mac App Store, and it will run on all Macs capable of running OS X Yosemite.
yay, another update with features I won't use
I still can't believe apple maps just NOW gets public transit directions. And it isn't even available where I live (Dallas)
yay, another update with features I won't use
At this rate it looks like I'm gonna be clinging on to Mavericks until at least two of the following happens (or #4): 1. Apple ends support for Mavericks, including security stuff 2. Office 2011 for Mac's extended support date passes 3. Valve ends all support for Steam, TF2, Dota 2, and/or CS:GO 4. Unlikely: my refurb 2012 Mac mini suddenly gives up the ghost Or an insta-bail if one of the following were to happen: 1. Scott Forstall returns and ensures no more buggy pieces of shit - I'd take faux leather shat all over the place any day for a stable OS 2. Apple manages to pull off another Leopard and actually wows people for once since Lion, even if it meant an extra year or two between a release

It's rock solid and smooth as hell.
What's not stable about El Cap? It's rock solid and smooth as hell.
Hows RAM usage? I'm spooked of another OSX update because updating from Mavericks to Yosemite made my Macbook Pro borderline unusable until I upgraded to 8GB of RAM.

El Cap is way more optimised though, so you should be fine.
I've had El Cap for a couple of months now, and to be honest I like it a hell of a lot more than Yosemite It feels faster and crisper, and I love most of the new shit
They're already onto 10.11.1 beta. :|
What's wrong with rapid development?
Well nothing assuming they have multiple development teams working on it.
People use Apple Maps? I'd use Bing Maps over it. Like Apple Maps are that bad. [editline]1st October 2015[/editline] (bing maps are actually pretty nice, will admit, but I will always prefer Google Maps)
I don't like how I have to move my mouse to the top of the screen in expose to see what's on all my other desktops, but other than that el capitan is just fine. Nothing feels "new."
Can confirm El Capitan made my macbook feel new again
I like how you don't have to wait a century to fullscreen a window.
How is it on the macs that don't use SSD's? Yosemite runs arse on my 2008 mac pro just because of the HDD's.

Five. Minutes. El Capitan has nothing
imagine using mavericks in 2015 [editline]3rd October 2015[/editline]
I like how you don't have to wait a century to fullscreen a window.
yeah, you could go and make breakfast in the time it took yosemite to fullscreen
imagine installing an OS on an HDD in 2015
yeah imagine that. it's just fine :)
I installed it: so far the things that have happened: -my pen tablet stopped working. (driver out of date) -my local apache server got fucked with (fixed in 30 mins) -photoshop cs5 doesn't work (older version of java was uninstalled) eh.
el capitan has been great on my non retina Macbook Pro since mid beta. not too much slower than my retina [editline]3rd October 2015[/editline]
I installed it: so far the things that have happened: -my pen tablet stopped working. Working beautifully on my 09 MBP. Thing still cooks my thighs, but oh well.
Working beautifully on my 09 MBP. Thing still cooks my thighs, but oh well.
that's why they call em notebooks instead of laptops now heh
People use Apple Maps? I'd use Bing Maps over it. Like Apple Maps are that bad. [editline]1st October 2015[/editline] (bing maps are actually pretty nice, will admit, but I will always prefer Google Maps)
Apple maps is 95% spot on with getting to the actual address (the "your destination is on the left/right"), on pizza deliveries, it has gotten me to the right house Google Maps is 40% spot on, sometimes it will fuck up and just take me to the road and say "lol your on your own" or tell me the house is on the left when it's on the right or accurately tell me its on the left/right side but the address will be horribly wrong Gmaps in terms of map updating is faster for new suburbs and will tell you fast routes, apple maps is a little shit on that scale So for work reasons, iMaps comes out on top, personal use, gmaps
Also I think El Capitan fixed the issue where an external monitor would occasionally output white noise.
