Music festival in Montebello (Quebec) is victim of its own success.

It will take a few more days for the Quebec village of Montebello to return to itself after a weekend of hosting Amnesia RockFest.
The festival has been growing exponentially since its first edition, seven years ago. Now, with a long list of big-name performers, including Alice Cooper, Marilyn Manson and Deftones, the village really felt a steep increase this year.
Laflamme said the massive influx of people, combined with logistical problems this year, saw an overflow not only of people.
“It was an ocean of pee on the ground,” she said, explaining the mud-meets-toilet-flood phenomenon that some festival-goers experienced.
She added that other logistics problems, like very long lineups and insufficient shuttle service, left enough customers unhappy to be a black eye for Montebello.
Music fan Adam Moody was enticed by the two-day festival’s big-name lineup.
“I feel like it was almost too good to be true,” he said. “And it turns out, for me, that was the case.”
The biggest problem for Moody was that he never actually got to see a show.
Moody paid about $200 for festival tickets for him and his girlfriend and he was supposed to pick them up at will-call on Friday.

A lot of people are complaining on the festival's facebook page and to the media. Everyone says that the festival's headliners were really great, but that everything else was horrible.
I don't understand why Rockfest's organisation wasn't ready for that. They did a lot of publicity on TV, Facebook and at local shows (I know for sure that they distributed flyers before and after Muse's show at Quebec City).
Long lines, poor staffing, crappy artists.
It sounds like a piss poor experience

It's like pissing in a sea of piss
Amazing artist lineup, too bad management was total shit. Literally.

How can you try to make an objective conjecture with a subjective statement like that, that's bizarre?

"Wow honey look, Deftones is playing! They suck! I'm totally going to pay $200 to go see them now."

Reminds me of the time I almost slipped in the sea of "mud" around the porta-potties at Sziget, when carrying the passed-out sister of a friend of mine with him and her boyfriend at the time.
Man, I wish there were some good fest in LA with line ups like the ones at Amnesia Fest or the UKs Download Fest.
the conditions sound pretty poor, though no worse than any other music festival i've ever been to :D
Leeds festival longdrops on the Sunday night. I came back a changed man.

Beyond Wonderland, Nocturnal, Escape, Hardsummer, previously EDC etc. Those are all events with sick lineups in LA.
Speaking of this, anyone going to the Osheaga festival in Montreal in August?
Hopefully there's no piss-seas
And I thought Download as really muddy and the toilets were shit (came back today). Shows what I know.

I didn't like the lineups for the Wonderland fests. Headhunter, yes (especially since Flying Lotus is performing). Download and Amnesia have the more ideal lineups. A lot of metal/rock titles I would love to see.

How is Download fest? I've wanted to go to Download for a few years now; being that I live in the US, it probably won't happen. :v:
Has anyone been to Wacken? Whenever I watch videos of it the sound is always bad.

Learn what literally means
You are saying that management was feces

Anyway, I've never been one for music festivals. Just not a fan of commonly unsanitary conditions and most only have a few artists I am actually interested in surrounded by a ton that I'm either not interested in or not a fan of. So its not really worth paying the money then standing around in a massive crowd of unfamiliar people often in sweltering heat.

In short it was fucking awesome aside the mud and rain for the first two days. Got to see Rammstein and crowd surfed during Airbourne's (my favourite band) set for the first time. Also I got to meet lots of cool new people at our campsite where we drank and fucked around most nights.
Oh and this morning when I woke up to pack my tent the boots I used to walk in the mud with had raw bacon on and inside them. Along with some tissues, though jokes on the fellow who put the tissues in my boots because those were the tissues that I used to jizz in after a fap.
So yeah it was pretty awesome.

Download and Amnesia fest have metal lineups which is what I'd like to see more of in LA. I do plan on going next year (if the lineup is decent). This year's Coachella wasn't so bad. The primary reason for going to Coachella is not for the music, it is because probably all of your friends will be there and the mountains of weed that will be there.

I agree too, the only I reason I consider going is to see bands that haven't toured in a while or don't usually tour or I would go just to have an excuse to see band again right before they tour (along with some other good bands). Not a complete loss. An example would be the New Jersey Metal & Hardcore Fest. Opeth was there then they had a US tour a month later. Only $90. That's pretty damn good for ~ 80 bands.
i know that seas of piss and shit are kind of a staple thing of festivals but this is just bad. same kinda thing happened here recently when some small weekend festival blew up in popularity since the previous year. they had to close tram stations to force crowds to disperse. people were paying hundreds in taxi fares for journeys that should have costed £20
Reminiscent of the after math of Woodstock, with the Town of Bethel just outraged at the damage and amount of people.
Last fest I was on was BRUTAL ASSAULT. Metaled enough for upcoming months.
