Well however small I now have another excuse for doing bugger all on my days off.
That was super interesting, the last thursdayism sparked my imagination somewhat
"selfie in delphi"
oh fuck off man
"selfie in delphi"

are you one of these people that thinks selfies are literally hitler
are you one of these people that thinks selfies are literally hitler
it was a physically painful pun, selfies are fine but that pun was just inhumane
in the far future, facepunch will most likely not exist anymore, and in the case that it doesn't someone is going to fuck up by putting a giant dick statue up with a placard that just says "facepunch"
we will quite literally be remembered as a penis

The fate is sealed; I was born for this purpose
that was fucking awesome
As a historian-in-training I have a few issues with this video. I know he was making an ontological argument and his focus is science but it was perplexing that he tried to present lived history not just as philosophically uncertain--but literally unknown and shrouded in mystery and inaccuracy. We know more than we ought to thanks to the painstaking methodology and prolific ethic of the field I work in. When he asked: "how many of you can name 10 people from the 15th century," and put it down to apathy, he essentially enshrined apathy. He made it seem like "that's the way it is." It's not. Interest in the humanities and history is at an all time low, and this sort of bias makes it a self-fulfilling prophecy. It's cultural--not some attribute of human nature.
It's really weird to think about our history, our records, our past and their death. Eventually, sooner or later, in hundreds of million years or billions in the future; earth must be destroyed eventually, other planets, galaxies, the universe itself at some point.
This is still why I enjoy watching alot of this guy's stuff. He tends to bring up alot of questions we normally wouldn't even consider, like his "Is anything real" video. They're philosophical to the point of sounding almost insane, but they really do make you think of things from a different perspective.
I was expecting the heat death of the universe to be mentioned when I saw the title, but "Newton's flaming laser sword" caught me off-guard.
The entirety of facepunch should be called Guardians of the Universe.
Thanks Facepunch users for being so inactive that you're preventing the Universe's heat death.
I've actually had that idea before that doing nothing is technically slightly extending the life of the universe, and people thought I was an idiot

The energy given off as heat from that burn just negated the effect we all had, thanks a lot asshole.
This demonstrate why I generally get bored of Vsauce on average. They drift off from the main subject all the time.
It was very interesting up to the point where he started talking about energy dispersion, which wasn't really what I expected the video to be about.

Why do people always bitch about this lmao
The point of these videos is to discuss a variety of scientific topics that are related to each other. Why do people get so antsy when he dares to talk about more then one specific thing?
I don't understand why people watch vsauce's philisophical videos and expect a direct and simple answer without any tangents
That's not how it works.
Good to know that I save the universe by being lazy as fuck. :v:
People say that we are too dependent on computers, and because of it, we are "lazy". Well, I guess computers are also helping to save the universe.
"Matty928 get up its time to go to work!"
"shut up bitch I'm saving the world!"

If he didn't go on a tangent his videos would be over in one minute.
"Hey Vsauce, Michael here. Did the past really happen? Well we can't prove that it did but it's the safest hypothesis since it requires the fewest assumptions. And as always, thanks for watching."

I don't know about you, but if VSauce didn't go off on a tangent, I think he'd actually be pretty boring. The whole point of the series is to educate you and make you think a bit more about things, rather than "here's a question theres an answer k bye". There's more beneath the surface, so why not delve into it? Because of his tangent, some random hipster joe has now heard of Heat Death, heard a bit on basic thermodynamics... on a question about "Is the past the past?". Wouldn't have happened if he stayed on track.
The weirdest thing about it to me is that we're all just proteins, chemicals, elements, atoms, particles. We are literally just a bunch of random shit that moves around. Who's to say that we're even 'alive'?
the bit about thermodynamics really reminded me of The Foundation Trilogy by Isaac Asimov

because "Alive" means literally just a bunch of random shit that moves around.
When that song with the rhodes kicks in I know he's about to speak about some weird shit
