I started to wonder about this part myself, I've never heard of anything like it, and I'm Norwegian :v:
EDIT: Did some googling and apparently there exists specially made tripwires for bears that set off an explosive charge (or shotgun shells) to scare them off, not actually hurt them

I'm so glad I live in the UK where the only thing that could hurt me in the wilderness is a lost smackhead.
Shiet I was close to going on a research trip to Svalbard, but when they told me the cost I to get there I said fuk no.
