Frank Herbert’s classic sci-fi story changes hands again. Legendary has acquired film and TV rights to Frank Herbert’s sci-fi classic. No plans yet – that they’re talking about, anyway. The agreement ensures that Brian Herbert, Byron Merritt (Frank’s grandson) and Kim Herbert (Frank’s granddaughter) will serve as executive producers on all projects that come from the deal.
Come on, do Jodorowsky justice! in these troubling times, we need the true muad'dib to shepherd us to greatness
Put Jodorowsky on it.
I do want to say I have no idea how they'd ever make Dune palatable to modern audiences without basically shitcanning half the appeal of the books. Also Sand worms and damnit get patrick stewart in it because this was like his first major on-screen role (before even star trek!) seriously, i can't believe it every time i watch it but patrick stewart is in this movie and not even advertised anywhere, the guy who would probably be the biggest TV actor in the world in 4 years as a side character who didn't even make it to the poster.
We need Vauneville, stat.
should be intriguing.
Come on, do Jodorowsky justice!

Put Jodorowsky on it.
I don't think Jodorowsky's version can really practically be made anymore, and it might be for the best. He was planning that shit back in like the 70s, and a bunch of the people who would have made it awesome (H.R. Giger, Salvador Dali, Orson Welles, Pink Floyd) are mostly dead, and whoever isn't dead would probably be past their prime or just not interested in any future Dune movie. I'm sure he would still make something insane and really cool, but who knows if he still has the pull to build a team of the same quality he would've had in the 70s. Besides, a company as big as Legendary would never get someone as experimental as him to make a movie for this enormous franchise. I'm sure they would want to play it as safe as possible, and I'm also sure that whatever he makes would deviate massively from the books.
Adapting Jodorowsky's version 1:1 would be kinda difficult yeah. I'd be happy if they just borrowed some of the cool visuals and ideas from him.

Jodorowsky's Dune would only be Dune in name, I want an adaptation that's far more faithful than what we have. Something like the tone of the Lynch film with the faithfulness of the miniseries. Of course, they would do it best by making it a miniseries and not doing films again.
