CLEVELAND - A woman caught on camera driving on a sidewalk to avoid a Cleveland school bus that was unloading children will have to stand at an intersection wearing a sign warning about idiots.
Court records show a Cleveland Municipal Court judge on Monday ordered 32-year-old Shena Hardin to stand at an intersection for two days next week. She will have to wear a sign saying: "Only an idiot drives on the sidewalk to avoid a school bus."
The judge ordered her to wear the sign from 7:45 a.m. to 8:45 a.m. both days.
Hardin's license was suspended for 30 days and she was ordered to pay $250 in court costs.
Messages seeking comment were left at a telephone listing for Hardin and at her attorney's office.

That sign sounds so absurdly specific.
I love this.
Hahah, good, idiot deserves it, if you're that dumb you need to be publicly humiliated.
Cruel and unusual punishment? Maybe, but damn if it isn't funny.
"it's a jeep thing"

I think cruel and unusual is more for torture or things like that.
Can't you, you know, drive around the bus on the road instead of the sidewalk?
Some people shouldn't be allowed to drive
Put a video of her GTA driving skills in the OP
What a cool judge.
Public shaming. I like it.

I don't think you can't pass schoolbusses on roads, so she was a smartass and drove on the sidewalk
If you're being that foolish you deserve to me made a mockery of. Also, on a side note, when I first read the title I thought it said "a sign proclaiming she's a mormon"; I have no idea why.
Watching the video, and hearing about how the bus driver would talk to parents at stops... oh how I hated when mine did that.
Pick up the kid, and keep driving, as much as I hated school, I did not want to be late.
More people needs to be punished like this, when they're repeatedly doing something stupid endangering others, or causing material harm to other people.
She got off easy.
I wonder if the people who are against the death penalty are for this.
Sure, it seems like a good idea, but it's flat out punishment, rehabilitation seems a little strange for a case like this, but making her go to driving lessons or something might make more sense.

I would be for suspending license for 2 years.
People like this just shouldn't drive.
I want to see a picture of the sign.
only a $250 fine, two total hours standing around with a sign (that would probably just look like she's protesting something), and 30 days without a license? is she a politician or something?
It's like a $400 fine "minimum" for driving the road through those 20mph school speedzones when there's a child present ANYWHERE, there are huge fines and punishments in place for passing busses on roads- even two-lane wide roads or oncoming traffic. I'd think driving on the sidewalk that children are stepping out of the bus onto is reckless driving and disregard for not only the rules/laws of the road and sheer common sense, but the lives of the kids she could potentially have hit with a god damn SUV

Standing on a corner referring to yourself as an idiot to passersby is a pretty good deterrent I think.
I think she got off too easy no matter how hilarious the sentence is
person is obviously unfit to be fucking operating a vehicle
Darn, it should have been more than two hours. I would have made her do it for an entire school day or something.
If the bus driver talks everyday and you dont want to be late then leave the house earlier.

You'd think that, but you'd also expect dying to be a pretty good deterrent for murder.
I know they're not totally applicable, murderers are more likely to have psychological issues and such, but it's the principle of rehab over punishment.
I do quite like the punishment though, it's just that it could been seen as counter-intuitive.

Good job pulling up a completely unrelated topic. The death penalty means the criminal will never get a chance of rehabilitation, while this is just to publicly shame her for doing something stupid.
or take a different goddamn street

I don't know how it is in Cleveland, but here when a bus is loading or unloading and it has that stop sign out, traffic must stop on both sides of the road.
Don't want kids being run over.

Well sorry for wanting consistent opinions on various topics.
I don't know about you, but I think of it as a problem when my opinion on one thing contradicts my opinion on another.
In this case, that when it comes to murder, I support rehab over punishment (whether that be death penalty or life imprisonment); whereas for relatively minor crimes, like this, I don't find that same idea of punishment objectionable.
