You drums are pretty badly made : The kick was decent, the snare was waay too quiet, and had no punch to it whatsoever. And your hats? They were atrociously repetitive, repetitive percussion does my fucking head in! As for the song it's self, the structure was pretty sweet, and some of the synths were great. I loved some of your acoustic instruments like violins, and the arps/lead was fucking fantastically well made. Overall good job, but please work harder on your drums
Thanks for the feedback and I will improve the drums :) [editline]10th July 2012[/editline] http://soundcloud.com/datslnc/datslnc-dusk-is-falling-1 The snare is now punchier (atleast on my speakers) and I added some variation to the clickier hat.
The snare is alot better now (although it could do with some high passed reverb), and that hat is MUCH better (I love you so fuckin much for fixing it). Your only problem now is fixing some of the drum patterns. Sometimes the generic DnB drum pattern is pretty draining on listeners.
I'll keep that in mind for my future tracks :) (I don't know if I will upload a third version of this, but I'll definitely try to create other drum patterns)
I think you need to choose a different snare sound overall... It sounds too much like a rock snare, doesn't fit the song.. Nice job other than that!!
I've been on the path of liquid dnb using Fl studio for a little over 2 years now, and a friend suggested i try reason, my first creation sounded just as mediocre as yours, if not worse. I like the atmosphere in this tune (the keys and the pad) but there really isn't much else to it. I'd say it seems like you're headed in the right direction though, keep learning new things.
