Anti-Trumper John Kasich to doubters: I'm no lame duck
COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — In less than a year's time, Ohio Gov. John Kasich has gone from an "adult in the room" alternative in a fractious Republican presidential field, to a potential convention spoiler in Cleveland, to now facing a hostile new president who reached down personally to seize control of the state GOP.
The roller coaster ride has left many wondering whether Kasich's political star and personal influence have faded. To this, Kasich had a direct answer this week: "You know (how) they talk about lame duck? They never met me."
With his characteristic defiance, Kasich has re-emerged in recent weeks after a period of retreat that followed a painful decision to concede his presidential ambitions for a second time.
The 64-year-old Republican has vetoed what would have been one of the nation's most restrictive abortion laws and Republican-backed legislation further delaying Ohio's alternative-energy mandates. He has resumed his public schedule in Ohio and scheduled appearances over the next week in Atlanta for Martin Luther King Jr. Day and in Washington to discuss health care with senators and attend President-elect Donald Trump's inauguration.
I would've voted for him over Clinton.

To be honest I would've voted republican this year if Trump wasn't such an abhorrent candidate.
I'm not a fan of Kasich's time as governor (like how he secretively clamped down on minimum wage increases) but holy shit he has more credentials than any other candidate run in 2016.

Other than Clinton, yeah.
no but you are basically enacting all of trump's conservative agenda, no abortions, trying to kill minimum wages, charter schools

Let's remember the good times.
Kasich during geach media rush wash groast, anti trump.
Kasich as a person and post lection decisions makes him a piece of shit.

Why? As far as Republicans go, Kasich has been pretty moderate and open to change. At least he believes in a minimum wage and doesn't want it eliminated completely like some people in politics.

He's a pretty generic anti-union, anti-abortion Republican. Sure, he's not quite a freedom caucus member, but he's by no means 'moderate'. He only seems moderate because of how fucking crazy a lot of Republican politicians are nowadays.

Other than those two what exactly has he done that is so terrible? Also abortion is an issue that really doesn't effect a majority of Americans. I don't get why it is such an important political issue to gauge a candidate with.

As a Brit his stances seem further right than the furthest right we'd ever go here, as a country that will be voting right for the foreseeable future. His stance on women in particularly is terrible.

It affects at least half the population. I don't know why republican's keep fighting about it tbh

Because it's an issue of women's rights and religion, two very divisive things. Plus those who it does effect, it affects a lot. Where a minor tax increase/decrease is negligible, as is minor increases/decreases in budgets of public services, this really has a major impact on people's lives. Plus it has the potential to affect 50% of the population, 100% when you consider the guy is probably involved too, even if it won't.
