[hd]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KchD-QLqp0g[/hd] JESUS FUCKING CHRIST. That exhaust note is fierce as fuck. Bonus: Ferrari FXX K vs McLaren P1 GTR sound comparison [hd]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JKnnjlfwnxk[/hd] As much as I love the P1... man, that V12 is pure sex.
If it's brutal exhaust notes you want, It's the 599XX Evo It's insane

It sure sounds like a car engine, I can't really say there's anything special about the sound.
The nicest sounding 12 cylinder you'll ever hear is the Flat 12 in the 917K. Just listen to those downshifts.

I love the sound of the 5 cylinder Audi Sport Quattro S1.
I love the sound of the 5 cylinder Audi Sport Quattro S1.
One thing that was always weird to me is how a straight 5 still sounds just like its "double counterpart", the V10. A straight 6 doesn't sound like a V12, a straight 3 doesn't sound like a V6, etc. If that makes sense.
It sure sounds like a car engine, I can't really say there's anything special about the sound.
There are so many different intake tones, exhaust tones and reports, combustion cycles, firing orders, stroke lengths, as well as sounds of forced induction, valve timing and anti-lag systems. There's so many different intricate mechanical and electrical systems meshing to turn dead plants and oxygen into force I don't see what's not to appreciate.

In terms of downshifts and general sound, the McLaren F1 makes my mouth water. Definitely my all time dream car. Around 3:17 is a prime example of it.

[editline]26th September 2015[/editline] In my mind, the only thing that sounds even nastier than a track-oriented V12 is... the 767B. [hd]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fBCS7CLfv8s[/hd]

Now that I remember, Ferrari did build a 2 liter, flat 12 engine, as a one-off for a time-attack sprints. [hd]https://www.youtube.com/watch?t=52&v=rJIhrv8aps0[/hd] Absolutely insane. They should really go "old school" and try to build a flat 12 again... For instance, the intake noise - as in, when the car has individual throttle bodies and you can "hear" the engine gulping in air, cylinder by cylinder. [hd]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0GOEuF_WcVw[/hd] Or on a carburated V8, when the secondaries open up. In this case, I'd say it's the equivalent to the "VTEC kicked in yo" meme, but for muscle cars. It's a very particular sound. [hd]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-jfep8Q2J6g[/hd] Secondaries opened up, yo!
You people and your baby cars. The best sounds can only truly come from something as magnificent as this.
Well, in my ears it's just different pitches of "wroom" v:v:v I don't see the fascination with the sound.
It's the soundtrack of Motorsport. Why do people like the sound of orgasms? or birds? or guns? or anything? Because those individual sounds are representative and part of an entire experience.
I have smaller cravings. Like the V8 in the M5 E39. Simple, tamed, but usable on the road, and elegantly savage. But, if I want to go deaf...
