• FCKH8 exploits feminism with 'Potty-Mouthed Princesses'
Most people would agree the gender wage-gap is bad. But is it more or less bad than profit-motivated adults instructing little girls to curse for a viral video? That is, in a nutshell, the false equivalence at the heart of a new and wildly controversial video by the T-shirt brand FCKH8, which since Tuesday has racked up more than 100,000 views on YouTube alone. The video consists of girls, ages six to 13, dropping frequent F-bombs in a discussion of pay inequality, stereotypical gender roles and sexual violence - a concept far more dangerous to the six-year-old mind, some might argue, than any casual curse words could be. Presumably, if you do find the girls’ language offensive, you’re not a very good feminist. And if you don’t find the girls’ language offensive, you are - to paraphrase one breathlessly horrified conservative blogger - an Occupy Wall Streeter, an atheist, or a “sexually confused and anti-American angry woman.” So regardless of your feelings on f-bombs, feminism, and the viral-industrial complex more generally, nobody wins here. Except FCKH8, of course, which is kind of the whole idea. FCKH8 is, after all, a for-profit company, owned entirely by Synergy Media - a corporate branding studio that specializes in (whaddya know!) marketing. Each T-shirt FCKH8 sells retails for between $15 and $37, five dollars of which the company promises to donate to charity. After FCKH8’s last campaign - in which the company had children from Ferguson, Mo. read statistics on racism to “white people” - that cut went to the Mike Brown Memorial Fund and the NAACP. Critics, of whom there are many, were not impressed.
http://www.washingtonpost.com/news/the-intersect/wp/2014/10/23/the-many-many-problems-with-fckh8s-potty-mouthed-princess-video/ Girls are blowing this stupid fuckin video up on FB thinking they are making a difference, when all they are doing is getting this company more $
People exploiting children and sensitive controversial topics for profit? Nothing new here, just as disgusting as ever.
I like how they associate rape with violent outdoor encounters, instead of recognizing that a large percentage of sexual assault happens in a bedroom. I also like how they make a bunch of small girls swear a shitload and act all bitchy to get their point across. People don't respond well to being badgered into doing things. To make a difference you need to calmly and concisely raise the points of issue many many many times and eventually society will change it's perspective. Acting the way they did in this video not only makes people dislike feminism even more, it invalidates the points they were trying to raise, regardless of how true they actually are. This video pretty much sums up why people dislike feminism and radical feminists. You don't have to be loud to be heard. EDIT: I do realize that this is a for-profit organization and that it does not actually want to help any cause but it's own bottom line. Please forgive me if that was not made clear above.

I strive to be all three! How are they exclusive to each other?!
So obnoxious
fckh8 is a terrible organization. they're completely for-profit and jump onto whatever popular cause they can. they recently sold ferguson t-shirts so they could make money off it
yeah um their owner is actually pretty sexist and they post sexist shit on their facebook page, are pretty transphobic, say bisexual and pan people don't exist. basically for someone "fighting for equality" they're doing a fucking shit job of it
What's up with this sudden surge in weird Tumblr style "feminism" on the Internet recently anyway?
What's up with this sudden surge in weird Tumblr style "feminism" on the Internet recently anyway?
huh what's tumblr style feminism because feminism is a big fucking thing it's like christianity - you can be a christian, but there's about ten billion different variants and types beyond that, some bad, some good, some helpful, some evil. people might take christian at face value, or might investigate further.

I'm not saying that feminism is a bad thing nor am I saying that all feminists are like those crazy people but I've seen this kind of reactionary bullshit claiming to be feminism crop up a lot around the internet lately and I'm honestly curious why.
a bunch of children swearing at each other to get a point across yeah, sounds like a modern debate :v:
Its cute and adorable. But, the message is stupid. I don't understand what Feminism has to do with hate. Society doesn't HATE women. Women have their old traditions (stay-at-home-mom, cleaning, cooking, damsel, etc) that have almost foundationed themselves into society at least 50+ years ago and it just hasn't worn off and sometimes its hard to break from tradition, but the fight is for the best I suppose, in due time everything will be equal. Or at least one can only hope.

It's polarising, it hits all the right emotional notes, it has a lot of people already invested in it, and it gives you a chance to feel good about acting like a dickhead. Taking causes to bad places for profit is a surprisingly common thing, nothing special about feminism other than that's what they're picking on at the moment.
fckh8 is a terrible organization. they're completely for-profit and jump onto whatever popular cause they can. they recently sold ferguson t-shirts so they could make money off it
They also steal peoples art and sell shirts plastered with it. They're also pretty anti-asexual. Fck FCKH8
FCKH8 is probably one of the worst websites I have ever encountered. They think they're doing right but they're doing everything wrong.
Although this video addressed some issues (some of which are exaggerated for the purpose of this video), the bitchy ghetto trash girl attitude made me pissed off and I didn't want to listen to it.
FCKH8 was what the original definition of "social justice warrior" was (failed attempts at progressivism) before it became "liberal that disagrees with me".
not all of them swore i want my money back
Little girls throwing out incorrect statistics about problems that they don't understand and swearing at the same time. Look out patriarchy, you don't stand a chance.
FCKH8 was what the original definition of "social justice warrior" was (failed attempts at progressivism) before it became "liberal that disagrees with me".
I know people overuse it as a slur, but that's still the definition they use. Whether you agree with them or not, if you want to understand what someone thinks when they say it's SJW shit, think of this kind of exploitative and misguided progressivism.
Totally for gender equality and everything, but can someone explain the whole "Women make 72 cents for every dollar men make for the same job. I have never known a workplace to customise peoples payment. In all the places I've work the women who do the same jobs as men get paid exactly the same. Is it because more men have higher paying jobs (eg, there's more male CEO's and more male doctors), and so someone out there heard the statistic that women generally earn less and decided to tag the "for the same job" on the end of that?
FCKH8 are complete trash, and this has been a known thing for quite a while

Today I witnessed true absurdity.
oh you should've just said "facepunch style feminism" then.
i like that someone went to the effort of making an alt to post this
i like that someone went to the effort of making an alt to post this
Account is from 2012, so I'm guessing it's a leftover from someone with plenty of alts to spare.

both sides of the debate are pissing me off to the point where i just don't care about either it's just ugh

And that number is determined by total LIFETIME WAGES. So women who have a child and leave the workplace don't get promoted, and thus don't get paid more for a higher paying job bringing that number down.
both sides of the debate are pissing me off to the point where i just don't care about either it's just ugh
You really shouldn't judge FCKH8 as a side of the debate. It's more-so just a company that exploits one side to make a profit.
