Just earlier this week, we got all of those PS1 and PSP games on our PS Vitas that we couldn’t before. Now Sony has taken them away. Now why are we surprised? This is Sony we are dealing with here. If you’re noticing that you can’t download PS1 and PSP titles despite our recent news that you could, you shouldn’t be able to. Sony has locked up or Vitas really tight again, limiting the games that we can play on them. But why did they give us this quick stint of joy? According to a live chat that @vitareviews had with a PlayStation employee, this mass whitelisting was a glitch.
http://wololo.net/2014/04/25/goodbye-ps1-and-psp-games-ps-vita-gamers-screwed-by-sony/
I wonder how many people who have a Vita in the mail thanks to these games being made available are now pissed off.
I wonder how many people who have a Vita in the mail thanks to these games being made available are now pissed off.
You can always use ePSP kernel exploits if you really want to play your PSP games on Vita I do it
I wonder how many people who have a Vita in the mail thanks to these games being made available are now pissed off.
They'll release them eventually, the EU store has more than the US store anyway. I dunno I imagine it being an E3 announcement that "oh look all PS1 games and PSP games are now available!!"
If I am correct, they didn't release them on purpose, it was infact an accident while doing maintenance. I predict a large number of Vitas appearing on ebay next week
Wouldn't that get you banned though?
Sony never baned anyone for that to this day and vita exploits are a thing for like two years now
Why are they not letting people download the games directly to their console anyways? You could do that with the PSP.
Why are they not letting people download the games directly to their console anyways? You could do that with the PSP.
Legal issues I belive.
Legal issues I belive.
But can't you still play the games by copying them over from a PC/PS3?
just do the ps3 to vita trick its how i got MGS onto my vita before this stuff. download game on ps3, use content manager to move ps1 game to vita.
It only works for some games though
And Sony wonder why the Vita isn't doing as well as they want.
Yes it says that in the article At anyrate, the ps1 games would be nice to have on there. It's a shame they don't make it permanently available.
Theres already a sizable chunk of PS1 games on PSN compatible with Vita though, same with PSP.
I wonder how many people who have a Vita in the mail thanks to these games being made available are now pissed off.
It'll only be their fault for being so quick to piss away money within such a short time of hearing the news. Hype towards games is a plague I learned to avoid.
It'll only be their fault for being so quick to piss away money within such a short time of hearing the news. Hype towards games is a plague I learned to avoid.
I don't blame them, to be honest. You don't expect companies to act this way. [editline]25th April 2014[/editline] It's like a grocery store puts out an ad and says "you'll get free turkey if you buy x amount of groceries," so everyone goes to buy groceries and when they go to check out they tell the customers "oh, we didn't really mean that turkey thing," and then you blame the customers for believing them. That's not really the customer's fault at that point. The customers saw something was for sale, so they fucking assumed it was for sale.
It only works for some games though
as far as i know the ps1 em is almost flawless on the vita system, i don't think there are any ps1 games at all that won't work for vita.
as far as i know the ps1 em is almost flawless on the vita system, i don't think there are any ps1 games at all that won't work for vita.
I meant the coping way. Like, some games can't be copied in the way described above.
Just get a psp from the pawn shop for $40, chances are it will already be modded. I also redact my praise from the first thread, the way I see it if you already bought the game there's no reason you shouldn't be allowed to play it on other hardware. This is kind of a dirty trick IMO, I didn't read a lot about it since I don't own a vita, but did they hint at all that it would be temporary?
But Sony didn't put up an ad saying "Oh, hey, buy all of these games that previously weren't available for your Vita".
But they were for sale on their storefront.
But you're comparing them being available for sale to a grocery store placing an ad and explicity telling people about a deal. The two are completely different things.
Not necessarily; they were both put on display in some location as a product to be sold, and at the last minute they both said "oops."
Except in the grocery store example, they went out of their way to advertise the product, meaning it was put on sale intentionally. Sony didn't. Again, if Sony put out ads telling people about it, it'd be one thing, but they didn't.
Then my grocery store analogy missed the mark slightly. My ultimate point still stands; it's not the customer's fault that the company fucked up and sold things they didn't mean to sell.

Sony tend to announce when they are doing big things like this on their stores, it doesn't just happen. Sony never advertised or mentioned it other than now when they realised the error occurred, yeah they're at fault for the error, but it's not their fault video game consumers are some of the most impulsive people on the planet.
